One of history’s most intriguing “what ifs” is how would the Gettysburg Campaign, only two months after his death, been influenced had Stonewall Jackson still been in command of 2nd Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia?

Gettysburg, as we know it, would not have happened.

If Jackson had lived, Lee would not have split his forces into three corps, so Jackson would have had more men at his disposal than Ewell did.

Jackson also would have, most likely, attempted an engagement against the Federals on Cemetery Hill. If he had been successful the Federals withdraw and move to position themselves between ANV and Washington. If he had failed then either Lee withdraws after having 2nd Corps beat up, or new tactics are used for further fighting there.

Even had Lee been successful at Gettysburg the best the Confederacy would be able to do is a stalemate since Vicksburg would have fallen no matter what happened back east. Washington was too well protected by that time to even think it could be taken. It would have taken a siege and Lee didn't have enough men for that. He would have needed the Army of Tennessee to help ring the city, and that would have left Grant and Sherman to run roughshod over the deep south even more than they did.

Jackson is my favorite piece of Civil War lore

He was a very unique individual, and a bit of an enigma too.

Held Sundays as so sacred that he would not fight on the Lord's day. However, he was known to, on more than one occasion, issue a general order rearranging the days of the week to move Sunday to a later day.

He is said to have always kept one arm raised while on horseback to keep his blood circulation balanced because he believed one side of his body was heavier than the other.

He held slaves, but in defiance of Virginia law he taught them to read, so that they could read the Bible and be granted eternal salvation.

Palmira (a bit different style, with Puerto Rican influences)

Is Palmira the one on Ashley River Road just past 526 and on the right if going to Drayton Hall and Magnolia? Haven't been there yet but it's on our to-do list next time we are over there.

We at at Rodney's place on King Street once, summer of 2022. It was good. Loved the whole hog plate and the pork skins that came with the whole hog sandwich. Also probably the best collards I've had at a bbq place. But, as others have mentioned, I read that it was hit or miss and apparently we got lucky that day.
NASCAR Hall of Fame wouldn't be too far (between South Brevard and South Caldwell near 277). It's an interesting walkthrough with some interactive exhibits (you can try out different out stop activities like changing a tire or drive a race simulator based on the iRacing platform).

Charlotte Knights (White Sox AAA club) aren't too far away either.

That reminds me of this one.

Before he got his break in acting, Steve Buscemi spent four years as a firefighter in New York City. After the 9/11 attacks he returned to his old company, Engine Company 55 in Little Italy, and worked a week of 12 hour shifts digging through the rubble at Ground Zero.

His rookie year with the Yankees was Mickey Mantle's last season.

He was tossed from 162 games. A full frickin regular season worth of ejections.

I have a baseball with his autograph on it. Chipper Jones, Grissom, Raphael Belliard, Greg Maddox, Tom Glavin, Mark Lemke, and Mark Wholers are on the same ball. Sorry if I butchered their spelling.

Would have to be either a 1995 or 96 ball, as those were the only two seasons Grissom was in Atlanta.

I don't think he financed it, but TNT aired the made for TV movie about the Hunley sub as well

As a side note Turner was a major part of the financing for the raising of the actual Hunley from off the coast of Charleston.

Why does it seem like every couple of years there's a major win for the "far right" in the UK and other European countries, just for nothing to happen and the liberals to quietly take back over?

Two reasons really.

People are much less likely to vote "far right" (even though that's a misnomer for most of Europe) in national elections vs local elections.

At least in the UK, they would have to win an overwhelming number of seats in Parliament. Otherwise Labour (or Tories) will cobble together enough of a coalition with the other parties to keep the "far right" in check and out of power.

I will say that if this had been a national election year, maybe, just maybe, the anger and frustration that caused this huge local swing would have happened at the national level. However, in another 2 years enough will have changed to offset a chunk of these gains.

How is it that the Georgia GOP can't find better senate candidates than Herschel Walker and Derrick Dooley?

Anything is possible in Georgia, it all depends on turnout. Right now in the primary Dem ballots are ahead of Republican ballots by a pretty good margin.

I would hope Lance-Bottoms is toxic enough from her time as Atlanta mayor to make her a no go. If Collins gets the nomination he could potentially pull the "former Republican who can't support Trump," and pull enough votes from the middle to win.

Republican Senate candidates all suck. Collins has ethics issues. Carter may be too MAGA for the middle, and the other choice is Derrick Dooley.

My biggest worry is the state Supreme Court. Those seats are "nonpartisan" and decided on the primary ballot, not in November. The Dems have put up two very liberal women (one worked under Fani Willis at Fulton DA) and are putting a ton of money into tv ads. I believe even if they win the court will still lean conservative but it's a scary slope.
A-1 Jet fuel weights approx 6.7 pounds per gallon. Planes burn between 750 and a couple of thousand gallons an hour.

Do you really want the plane to try to land with close to 5 tons of extra fuel if you don't need it just to keep you circling an extra hour?
In a perfect world, maybe; but, it isn't a perfect world.

Who would do the penalizing? Where would the financial penalties go? Do the penalties go up based on the simplicity of the cyber security deployed? Is there a time limit for remediation?

If you announce that XYZ Corp was penalized for only having the basic firewall and antivirus software, you're advertising to the world that they are sitting ducks for another hack because the security tools can't be upgraded overnight.
