WHY are central/south Fl. teams CLOSEST opponents in Virginia?

I know they were in different conferences. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to go back to that.

There are not, never been, never will be a #14, 15, or 16 ranked team that would be or deserve to be competing for National Title! 8 teams to me was the most it should've been! Sure there could've arguably been a team or 2 that got left out, but if you miss out it's because of your record and on field play. If you're arguing about a team or 2 who missed the playoff, then I think that's a good healthy place to be for the sport! At 12 or 16 teams you're diluting the field and undeserving teams are in the mix!

Not in disagreement. Just pointing out the direction CFB is going. We somehow went from 4 to 12 teams.

We’ve had 12 teams twice and it has been #7 vs #8 and the #1 vs #10. 3 of the 4 teams didn’t even play in a Conference Championship (Notre Dame is independent). Ohio State has a national championship while coming in 4th in their conference. That just doesn’t seem right to me. And now you have SEC ADs and coaches talking about getting rid of the conference championship is something coming.

I’d much rather see a conference tournament (4 team playoff) advance to a National (4 team playoff). With so much expansion, conference playoffs make sense to me. Conference championships would become more meaningful.

Good catch. Nor is ND in Southern Indiana, and Lou/Kentucky, Uga, Socar, and many Texas schools are placed incorrectly.

But artistic license is not limited to literature works. It can be utilized in cartography as well to keep certain themes juxtaposed in a more aesthetically pleasing manor and the viewing public may just have to deal with it.

I do think this is the fairest method for the big10 and Sec.
Making it to where they can have two teams on the final to where ACC and pac16 cannot.

Even in a power four conference structure, the sec and big10 have harder schedules. They deserve to have their teams make it to the final easier while the ACC and pac16 are given a better shot at a spot in a semi final.

Big 8: Utah, BYU, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa State, Mizzou, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Okie State

SWC: Texas, TTU, A&M, TCU, SMU, Baylor, Houston, Rice, Arkansas and Tulane

SEC: LSU, Ole Miss, Miss State, BAMA, Auburn, Florida, UGA, UT, UK and Vandy

Big Ten: Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, NW, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State

ACC: FSU, GT, Clemson, USCe, UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, UVA and Maryland

Big East: Miami, VT, Louisville, Cincinnati, WVU, Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers, Boston College and Temple

Eight team playoff

Rose Bowl: PAC-10 vs Big Ten
Sugar Bowl: SEC vs Big East or at-large
Cotton Bowl: SWC vs Big East or at-large
Orange Bowl: ACC vs Big 8

Rose vs Cotton
Sugar vs Orange

Seven conference champs and highest ranked non champ Or Top six champs and two at-large.

Or

12 Team playoff

Top six conference champs and six at-large bids. Current bowl tie-ins still play. Peach and Fiesta become non playoff bowls. Semis are just regular semifinal games.
