That Ole Miss kicker is a stud. He was 1-2 from 50+. And hadn’t even attempted one from 50+ since September. Staff trusted him to make them and he did.

I doubt any team would pay that for a WR. Did any QBs get 4M for 2025 season?
I think Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State made 3.5M, and would be the highest paid WR. But that’s coming off a National Championship year.

Go to a 4-Team Conference Playoff (takes place of the conference championship) and the winners of each Conference play in 4-Team Playoff:
2025 P4 Conference Playoff:
ACC
Georgia Tech at Virginia
Miami at Duke
B1G
Michigan at Indiana
Oregon at Ohio State
Big 12
Houston at Texas Tech
Utah at BYU
SEC
Ole Miss at Alabama
Texas A&M at Georgia

Auburn has a kicker in the portal. Go get him!

Also, if Oregon beats Indiana, could they leapfrog the teams ahead of them, ala, Miami in the early 1980s when they beat Nebraska in the Orange Bowl and went from No. 5 to No. 1 in the final polls?
1983 season, Auburn claims that one now. Auburn(#3) won the Sugar Bowl. #1 and #2 both lost their bowl game.

An "Elite" program does not have a losing record against their rivals.
quote:
Georgia - Auburn 65-56-8 46.3%
We've squandered away this record. It was tied in 2014. Georgia has owned Auburn hard for about 2 decades now.
quote:'
Alabama - Auburn 52-37-1 41.6%
From 1981 - 2020 (Pat Dye's first year until Malzahn's final year) the record was tied 20-20.
So I think we can say we can compete with the "Elite".

They’ve fired 2 coaches in 1.5 seasons and 2.5 seasons
How are you ever gonna build a consistent program doing that? I bet Golesh is canned by 2028 as well because they are lunatics on the Plains
Only 6 of 16 SEC coaches have more than 3 seasons at their team currently. Gus coached for 8 seasons. Kirby is the only coach that has been at their current team for more than 6 seasons.

Didnt Malzhan have them in the Natty game and barely lost to Oregon? No?
Auburn beat Oregon in the NC game with Gus as OC (2010 Season). Auburn lost to FSU in the NC game with Gus as Head Coach (2013 Season). Oregon has never won an NC.

My question to Auburn fans is: knowing what you know now, would you have pressured Auburn to keep Malzahn?
I was fine with Gus continuing. But fans don't have much say so. I know I don't.

but our PTB turned him into a program killer with that bullshite, very public, investigation into the assistant he brought with him from Boise.
Lets look at how this happened, which was a mix of credible reporting with unsubstantiated social media speculation.
Feb 3, 2022 - Justin Hokanson put out that Auburn was trying to fire Harsin. He didn't say anything about the cause.
This lead to Message Board/Twitter(X) rumors to grow rampant.
Feb 7, 2022 - The University makes it first statement that Auburn is making an inquiry to how Harsin treats players and coaches. Which let 4 days of internet rumors build.
Feb 11, 2022 - The University announced that the review was complete and Harsin would remain.
So who's fault is it really? I believe the AD fumbled this one by letting it leak to Hoke and not being transparent about it until days after. But it never had anything to do with the assistant and it was unfortunate that she and Harsin's family were brought into it by rumors.
Was the inquiry necessary? Probably. Derek Mason had just left to take a similar position (and I think for less money) at OK State 8 days before Hokes message. Austin Davis had been hired as OC in December and left 3 days before. It seemed that not many wanted to work with Harsin.
I only bring this up because I think people still misinterpret how it really went down.

Our society is fricked. :lol
As for fishing, I like the idea of it and would love to be better at it. I grew up fishing in my grandpa's overstocked pond and that was easy and fun. Now I try to fish in a couple lakes every now and then and I am lucky if I get a bite.
The sky is falling!

How many more games would Auburn have lost the last 2-3 yrs if your defense hadn't kept y'all in it?
Ummm... all the games the defense kept us in we lost anyway.
I think it best to break away from the G5, let them have their own playoff, I'd watch it.

Per sources, Coleman’s NIL offer from Auburn was well north of $2 million. While Auburn personnel felt optimistic about the conversations, there was a sense his agent preferred he end up elsewhere. Ultimately, Coleman needed to feel comfortable with the new coaching staff and the projected starting quarterback, and that didn’t happen.
A to Z is reporting his agent his asking $2.5M. LINK
His agent also represents Micah Parsons, who the Cowboys thought they had a deal locked in place after Jones and Parsons and had an agreement. Parsons ended up asking for more and asked for a Trade and got the highest non-QB contract in the NFL.
ETA: Although the NFL does have the salary cap and making it work for Parsons may have been tough.

Yup. Coaching change and no bowl make for a whole month of bad news with the new portal date.

Yeah, but good luck getting a bunch of kids and agents to buy into that when they know the next school will just pay them.
I'm sure a lot players in portal will be taking pay cuts. It will be interesting in about a week to hear where everyone is going. Especially who is coming to Auburn. It needs to be a great portal class for Auburn.

His teams couldn't win the close games and fell apart in the 4th quarter. That separates the great teams.

Would depend on the player. Some would get raises.
Yeah like Atkins I'm sure. And I'm sure Coleman was offered more as well.
From the Hoke Article:
quote:
People familiar with the process tell AuburnSports the new group wants predictable valuations tied more closely to on-field performance, even if that leads to some portal departures. This approach isn’t about cutting costs; Auburn has resources but wants alignment with culture.
quote:
Auburn wants to reset the board, be fair and still offer strong NIL opportunities. This is not about Auburn being short on funds or lowballing players. The goal is a fair, predictable structure that aligns with culture and allows players to earn more as they improve.
With clearer expectations, you avoid situations where a backup player with limited production expects a raise simply because a year has passed. The hope is to reduce constant battles year over year.
quote:
In the end, it comes down to how unsustainable it is to keep giving incremental raises to players who are already being paid at a high level when they arrive. That’s the overall idea. The restructuring will cause some growing pains, but the new staff believe it’s necessary.
