Georgia and LSU are above Texas. Texas has an aurora around it that smells like mediocre. They will never win another NC unless Vince young steps back on the field

I mean we’re all splitting hairs and dick measuring here.

There are about 10-15 jobs that are all elite. We can over-analyze and argue all day about who is 5 and who is 6 and who is 10 but it is what it is…. 10-15 elite top jobs

You give Urban in his prime or Ryan Day currently the players that are on LSU’s roster, and they’d be a tough out in the playoff. Just my opinion. Kelly royally fricked that program for his own personal greedy reasons. But the admin was complicit in all of it. I don’t blame the fans at all for partying like it’s Mardi Gras that’s he’s gone

3. Notre Dame
4. Texas
5. Georgia
6. LSU
7. USC
8. Florida
9. Michigan
10. Penn St.

These are better jobs.

The NIL era is different though. The blue bloods are having a difficult time accepting the new landscape but the top 15-20 jobs are pretty much even at this point.

So long as you’re willing to spend, they’re all the same.

LSU is a mid tier job at best. Scott Woodward and the LSU fanbase have dug themselves into a hole they may never recover from. You fired a competitive coach because of a dumbshit AD. LSU was screwed the day Sankey admitted Texas and Oklahoma. Past glories mean nothing. Why would any coach want to go to LSU? The facts are: LSU is the poorest school in the SEC. Founded 160 or more years ago, and have a pitiful alumni support base, last in the SEC. LSU is # 7 down the list for student population in the SEC, LSU stadium and facilities suck. Baton Rouge is a horrible place for anyone to bring a family. Hell, even the LSU fans left the game early to get home safely. Scott Woodward has established the outrageous baseline for any reputable coach to be paid. (He did it to the Aggies as well) But, given the payouts to the last coaches, the need to upgrade the facilities, the horrible Baton Rouge civic environment, the fact that LSU is at best a mid level SEC team, can anyone save them?

Hell no. LSU is broke in more ways than one.

We have a major donor that lives only a few miles from the campus worth over $20 Billion paying for the buyout.

But…. There’s no money avail lol

In the current climate of college football I think it relevant to ask what is a “top job” and what goes in to that equation. Is it team success, job security, a decent chance at coaching longevity at a particular place, or what? Along with the NIL, etc.,the landscape of college football is changing. We are now seeing it in the coaching ranks. It appears fans are becoming less tolerant and we are seeing more coaches being let go during the season (at times with no real back-up plan). That probably goes in to what is a “top job” at least from the coach’s perspective. Some will shy away from a rinse and repeat type of job. The parties can protect themselves through contract if they will actually honor their terms but coaches may begin taking a harder look at some of these jobs.

Any successful coach at LSU isn't leaving to take another job in college. There are just a few schools that can say that.

Bama, LSU, UGA, and Ohio State are the top four jobs in the country. USC should be in that conversation, but the university is a mess at the moment. Everyone always includes Texas, but there’s a reason that Mack is the only coach to win at a high clip there in the past 40 years.

Ohio State
Alabama
Georgia
Texas
Michigan

only jobs that are better. Notre Dame and Oregon (NIL era) I think are lateral. OU, Florida, USC are behind, then Penn State Tennessee etc.

It is for the same reason UGA is. In state talent and proximity to talent. The one thing that LSU has over almost everyone is that they’re the only P4 school in their state so they don’t have to try that hard on in state talent. It’s not the top job because of resources, but it’s a top 5 job.

I just don't see how that one factor puts them into the top 5 job considering all other factors and programs.

It's close but there are programs that share a state with other P4 programs but have enough talent instate to feed all 3 or at least be a strong foundation of every class. Florida, Texas, CA for example.

LSU only signed 10 out of 23 recruits from LA high schools last year.
Napier being a total fk up signed a higher rated class than LSU

However, LSU is top 10 for sure.
