Is it just me but has anyone else noticed Bama isn’t getting the recruits they use to get?

Only a couple years ago they were getting five stars and now fighting to get 4 stars. NIL really leveled the playing field.

It is not different for any other team in the league. Maybe state, UK, Scar, Vandy, OM, etc. are beneficiaries of the same.

It’s hitting the entire SEC the same way. There will never be teams with that kind of depth again.

Once Saban was snubbed by the Alabama admins regarding the 15 year Learfield deal that he opposed, it has been all down hill ever since.

I've been telling Alabama fans for the past few years about how that deal made some in house folks rich while screwing the football program.

Alabama fans in general don't seem to understand, but I'm fine with that.

Alabama literally signed the #1 ranked player overall in the Class of 2025.

In the Class of 2026 Alabama signed more 5-stars than Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Miami, Michigan, LSU, etc.

The only program to sign more 5-stars was Oregon who had four.

Alabama, Texas and Notre Dame signed three.

fricking idiot.

The legend is always greater than reality. Alabama getting talented players hasn’t been the problem, depth is a problem but it’s a problem alll over the sec.

They still get great recruits, it’s just that no teams are able stack 4/5 stars 3 deep, any more. Times are a changing.

I don't even follow recruiting anymore. There was a time when I could name just about every player on LSU's roster and what their recruiting ranking was coming out of HS. Now I just laugh when someone comes on here to brag about signing a HS recruit or a portal player.

Oklahoma's #1 2027 class took 3 kids out of Alabama.

Of course. The field is leveled now that every school can pay their players...

Never should've been that way in the first place.
I believe it was start of the league's overall decline

Based on On3 rankings, Alabama signed 3 five star recruits in the last recruiting cycle. They finished the 2026 recruiting cycle 2nd in number of 5 stars. Only Oregon signed more with 4. In 2025, despite the coaching change, they were 3rd with 3 five star recruits.

Why do so many people here start threads that are just wrong? Easily fact checked yet still completely wrong. LSU fans start more than any other fanbase.

You should be embarrassed by this. You probably won’t be.

Because nothing will change between now and December. Things never change in recruiting…

The op is talking about overall. Sure, you signed some 5 stars. Your Alabama so you should. But you aren’t following up those 5 stars with the next level player after player. The results are right there in front of you. And you’ll see the results agin this season when you are in close game after close game.

The OP said Alabama is not signing 5 stars anymore and is fighting for 4 stars.

You are as stupid as him. Got it. Will remember this going forward.

As for keeping players, no one is able to do that like in the past.
