re: SEC Is already The biggest loser of CFB Playoff First Round?

NIL and the transfer portal were instituted FOR THE VERY REASON to end SEC superiority and regain national appeal.
Surprise surprise. It worked as designed.

Yep. Story of the last two games. Really shouldve lost to the Cocks but, well, they’re the cocks.

Not many SEC teams want to break rocks for 4 quarters. If they did, you would see 12 and 13 personnel on the field and the convictions of an F-5 tornado.
It’s a shame because at one time the real advantage the SEC had was the ability to run the ball and stop the run, and that was largely due to really talented running backs and Dlinemen coming out of the conference. I’m sure NIL and the portal has diluted it, but it seems that scheme does play a role.
Big oversight with Mizzou. And you can have a running game without being in 12/13 personnel as theyve shown. It’s more of an attitude and having a running back that will not go down one on one. The conference once grew them on trees. Seeing Bama backs go down with shoestring tackles is crazy. LSU lost it as well a while back.
What happened to dominant running backs in the SEC?

Watching last night and how pathetic both games were, I noticed that neither could break one tackle and get to the second level. It was once rare to see a running back in the SEC with one safety or even most lb’s isolated one on one get taken down with an arm tackle like they got sniped.
This conference used to be full of backs like Kewon Lacy. Maybe the Georgia back. But it seems like a whole lot of D2 level running backs in this league that was once spitting out dudes left and right. Even the South Carolinas and Kentuckys and Mississippi States had killers at RB that would take over a game.
Just a down year or result of NIL?

Got paid and said F it.
They aren't even trying. Reminds me of LSU last year with Nuss.
If you can run the ball he's not as able to disguise. He is kryptonite against modern spread qb centric offenses. Best antidote is to line up old school and pound it. Bama simply can't do it.
If you cannot run the ball against a Brent Venables defense you are screwed. Joe Burrow and all those weapons are the only offense that has been able to just drop back and have success but that was a generational offense and even then it wasn't easy out the gate.
This is embarrassing for the Bama coaching staff.

To see a Bama defense get pushed around and out leveraged after years of Saban is jarring.
Bamas getting severely outcoached thus far.
This Bama team ain’t beating that OU team at home. Terrible matchup for them.
Bama is worse than they were at the time that game was play and they cannot run the ball.
Bama is NOT a playoff caliber team.

We created an incentive structure that incentivizes teams and players to only care about playing for money and a spot in the playoff.
Now we’re bitching at them for opting out of a game that means nothing and has no bearing on their future.
We are dumb as a society.

Gradually? NIL and the wide open transfer portal essentially happened in an offseason.
Conference expansion was an avalanche over several years, but it made scheduling so imbalanced you can’t make a reasonable comparison with even in conference teams.
There was pre-BCS, BCS, then whatever tf this garbage is. It was by design to wring as much money out of the sport as humanly possible. Lots of back room discussions I can assure year.

We took the best sport in the world and butchered it into 1000 pieces. Why? God only knows, but somebody stood to make a lot of money because of it.
College football was special man. But you get what you incentivize. NIL, eventual 32 team playoffs, giant conferences that make no geographical sense? This was the most nonsensical haphazard wrecking ball to the best sport in the world.
There should be an investigation behind why it hand who was behind it.

Gonna have to find some more explosive plays to beat Ohio State.

Believe it or not Mississippi would be up there. Even has Ray Guy as a punter.
Oline might be a problem though.

Drink get a lot of hate but the guy always puts a competitive product on the field. He acts like a doosh but his teams fight their arse off.
I think the bigger programs passing on him for G5 unprovens would do better to hire him.

We’ve all done stupid shite in our younger days but Tyrann has shown to be nothing but a professional, standup dude in his adulthood.
Still the most instinctive college football player I’ve ever seen.

Lane keeps twisting the knife. Love it.

Ole Miss should be doing exactly what Tulane is doing with Sumrall and allowing them to finish out the season.
Those fans would not allow him to walk onto that field.
And let’s be honest, neither would we in the same situation. Hell would hath no fury.
The head coach is a figurehead as much as anything. A play caller is a bit different.
This was a needed PR move from both sides. If Ole Miss rolls out there with no offensive coaches it’s not a good look for anyone. In divorce the kids suffer most. Good on both parents for working this issue out civilly.
