You’re just miserable now.
Nah, I’ve never been happier than I am now.

But I sense your misery in every pitiful thread you start.

1,000 permanent jobs? 1 job per every 3 acres?

Or, another way to look at it is 1,000 new permanent jobs in a parish which, according to the 2020 census, only has 20,043 population.

And in a parish which currently ranks 52nd out of 64 parishes in household income at $34,029. That's the income for the entire household of the people living there.

A data center was proposed for New Orleans and residents fought it.
Good for them. That's their right.

But did anyone living in Richland Parish start a thread on here saying the New Orleans Parish Council didn't have their finger on the pulse of our state?

And how many new permanent jobs were supposed to be created by that 17 acre data center? How does the number of those jobs compare to the 1,000 new jobs in Richland Parish's 32,000 acre data center?

There was a brief time a few years ago when I thought you were intelligent.

But I was wrong...

as well as great historical animosity toward Russia
I know all about that animosity from personal experience.

While most of my work in Ukraine took place in Kiev & Odessa, I did spend two weeks in 2010 working in Lviv in western Ukraine not far from the Polish border.

The first morning working there I thought I would win my coworkers favor by making my introductory remarks in Russian...not having to go through the interpreter assigned to me.

The temperature in the office immediately dropped about 50 degrees and the smiling looks I first received turned into glares.

I turned to my interpreter and asked her, in English, "What just happened"?

She said, "The Ukrainians here in Lviv don't like to hear Russian spoken. They only speak Ukrainian here."

I apologized to the group, in English, which my interpreter translated, and I told them I would never speak Russian with them again.

The temps rose and smiles returned.

I later learned that part of western Ukraine was the last area retaken by the Russians from the German occupation in WWII and Lviv was the center of the Ukrainian resistance to the occupying Russian army. The resistance fighting lasted until the early 1950s when the last Ukrainian partisans were finally captured and executed by the Russians.

French imports of Russian LNG increased 34% in the month of June.

I heard it was a 267% increase.

And I won't post a link either...

What about his offshore accounts, Swiss bank accounts, safety deposit box etc.
I've learned that the most cynical people among us are usually the least trustworthy people because they think everybody else is as dishonest as they are...

Now do his offshore accounts....
Oh wait, you can't!!!! The entire offshore banking industry isn't subject to any regulations.
You're out of date with your statement.

Since 2010 when the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) was signed into law almost all foreign financial institutions are required to report the assets of U.S. citizen account holders directly to the IRS.

Under FATCA, foreign banks, investment firms, and insurers must identify and report U.S.-owned accounts to the IRS. Institutions that fail to comply risk a 30% withholding tax on certain U.S.-sourced payments and investments.
I agree.

But I was addressing the other poster's example of Joe the Plumber.

If Joe only has a net worth of $1 million with at least 1/3 of his worth tied up in his non-liquid & non-income producing residence, he'd better not live more than 10-12 years after retirement.

If he does he might become one of those Walmart greeters we all feel sorry for working to make ends meet in his retirement.

The oddest thing is how many people were convinced in 2022 that Russia would be heavily favored in a longer conflict.
Agreed.

I know I was in that crowd.

I was also in the crowd who believed the war would be over in less than 3 months with Ukraine completely overrun by the mighty Russian military.

Joe the plumber would win the lottery if he died with over a million.

A person who retires with only $1 million in net worth can't even maintain their current standard of living for the rest of their life.

After 10 years in retirement that person will have half that amount remaining.

And that's IF they don't have a catastrophic injury or disease to drain even more of their nest egg.

Kinda' not bad for honest work
Considering that most 71 year olds have paid off their home mortgage and if they live in a decent house in a nice neighborhood, they are at least halfway to having a million dollar net worth right there.

Add in a 401(k) or rollover IRA (or a 457(b) for government employees) and that's likely another $500,000 - $750,000 added to their net worth.

He probably has offshore accounts like they all do.
If he didn't report offshore accounts his estate is in trouble with the IRS.

Reporting any offshore accounts is required when submitting a taxpayer's 1040 tax return.

And a quick Google search shows all congressional reps & senators must disclose any offshore accounts and their value on their annual congressional financial statements.

It is a weird story to run right after a public figure dies.
The media frequently reports a celebrity's net worth soon after their death. I specifically remember Toby Keith's wealth reported the week he died. The same for Prince.

It’s just more interesting to me how incredibly exceptional so many of his colleagues seem to be.
Me, too. Rep. Ilhan Jabar X Omar apparently lost almost $90 million in her net worth just in the last two years. And she's not even a senator...

And now you're just lying.

Just frick off, a-hole.

You're projecting your well-known dishonesty onto me.

This guy started this thread thinking he would burn a dead man
You're an idiot.

I started this thread because I thought Graham's net worth would be 5-10 times what it was after being a senator for as long as he was.
