It is to discuss football. I will get around to a Florida thread eventually.

The last time the Waltons contributed anything to the athletic department at Arkansas was back in the early 90s when Bud Walton helped fund the new basketball Arena. Other than that nothing.

They've accomplished more than bama baseball.

Just CWS appearances, in which they have a losing record compared to Bama.

Alabama has more wins overall, more SEC regular season titles, and more SEC Tourney titles.

If you want to say they’ve accomplished more by being the better loser more times than go ahead. But as far as titles go, Alabama baseball kicks Arkansas baseballs fricking arse.

It is eerily similar. In Saban’s last two seasons he went 2-0 against LSU, made the playoffs once, and got knocked out by a B10 team. In Deboer’s first two seasons he went 2-0 against LSU, made the playoffs once, and got knocked out by a B10 team.

Imagine waking up as a fan of one of the most storied programs in the country just a few years removed from one of the greatest coaches in the history of football and deciding to just randomly attack a team that went 0-8 last year.

Consider the source. A douchenozzle gonna douchenozzle.

Also, he's mourning the loss of the "dynasty". Kalen has eight losses in two years, after inheriting a Saban roster. Compare that to 8 total losses in Nick's last five years.

Nick Saban went 19-8 in his first two seasons at Alabama. Deboer went 20-8 in his first two seasons at Alabama.

I'm aware, which I was I stated "sleeping" giant

If the Walton's were actively contributing, Arkansas football would be an 800 pound gorilla with a chainsaw dick.

There is precedent, even if it were decades ago.

I'm curious who has more since we've been in the same conference

Any theories on why in state talent has dropped so significantly?

Central Ark was the main source for D1 level football recruits.

Little Rock for whatever reason is a basketball city over the last 20+ years. Most of the best athletes in the city and surrounding area, end up focusing on basketball.

You could speculate as to why... hogs playing fewer and fewer relevant games in LR over time. Most of the 90s the hogs were upper tier in basketball, and bottom of the barrel in football. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Sam went to Mizzou and Helen went to OU. So despite the fact that Arkansas launched the empire and is the HQ... they probably weren't as attached to U of Arkansas sports like they would have been if they were alums.

The Walton Empire was started here and they should give back. Its a shame and some local small money has called them out on radio. They couild fund the football program and it would be me spending a buck. SHame on them.

As far as talent drop goes its almost unexplanable. Not that many kids are top level basketball players. From 95 to 08 Arkansas put out some serious SEC level talent. After the 08 class things went down hill quickly.

Little Rock and LR Central in particular is the main drop. But we had top level runnign backs seems every year for 20 yrs then boom. Nothing. It used to be who is next . I blame it on M Dyer and Malzahn. They jinxed us.

If you really know the history of Arkansas football it is a myth that they were ever a top echelon team. Now the schedule is tougher and they are kind of who they have always been except for a good couple of years every once in awhile. Frank Broyles built his reputation while playing in a very weak conference and then scheduling sure wins in the non conference. The old SWC would have a good team now and then other than Texas…but mostly it was a weak conference and Arkansas was often the best of those bad teams. Look back at their bowl record during that time. Good record and good raking and get beat in the bowl game once they couldn’t choose their opponent
