re: This is about to be Chad Morris level bad

I'm really not sure I could care that much even if we were somehow good. Most of what I liked about CFB is gone.
I enjoyed following recruitment and development of players - sometimes you might not see the payoff for 3-4 years, but I knew the roster, not just the starters - I knew at least the 2 deep. Now I really could hardly name anybody outside of the Quincy Rhodes and our QB (I forget if it's AJ or KJ that's supposed to be better).
The post season sucks. Bowl season used to mean something. Late december was like the appetizer games, gradually getting better. New Years Eve/ New Years day was comparable to the first week of March Madness. Now most of those games are pointless. Playoffs are fine I guess but it's destroyed any other post season importance. It already started to be ruined before the playoffs, moving games away from their traditional days/times in order to maximize TV $.
I don't know what conference anyone is in. I hardly hear bands anymore, just piped in music. Notre Dame and USC aren't playing each other anymore. I don't know who plays for anyone, other than they are likely playing for whoever agreed to pay them the most money.
Not that I have a problem with professional sports, but if I'm watching that, I'd rather watch the big show, not the minor league.
I'm in favor of diverting any resources we can to basketball, which I still love. They've at least kept the post season incredible. The roster turnover is not really as big of an issue - I think even a casual fan can keep up with 8-9 core players from year to year.

re: Why do some keep claiming that college football is dead?
Posted by The Sultan of Swine on 6/30/26 at 9:44 am to Landmass
I don’t know if the sport that is today called College Football will die. It might thrive for all I know, although I doubt it.
If you’re talking about what used to be called College Football, it’s definitely dead.
Like Lynyrd Skynyrd. You can stay it’s still an active band and be correct. In a truer sense, the band died in ‘77
FWIW, NIL is a big part of it but there’s much more to it than that. The core of what made it unique is completely gone

Both statements seem true. How many schools have sold the naming rights I wonder?

lol, all those "smart people" dont have a clue who is going to win a baseball tournament. They set odds to produce action and live off the juice.
I always hear this. Makes me want to start a casino and give every match a million to 1 long shot. That should create maximum action

What should happen is after Silverfield wins 1-3 games this season, Hunter is fired. The new ad is hired and uses the next 2-3 years to fix all of Hunter's frick ups and hires a new HC to begin the process of moving forward.
So with the reasonable assumption that the next coach will need at least 2 years to built the program…
We’re looking at maybe 2030 to field a legitimate team in the best case scenario

Arkansas delta is pretty Deep South culturally. I think LR is basically the NW corner. Nothing west or north of there is Deep South.
Regions don’t really follow state lines like you’re thinking

re: President Trump posts, "TIME TO AUDIT FORT KNOX"
Posted by The Sultan of Swine on 6/1/26 at 1:10 pm to Ailsa
Meaningless distraction. Our government's money is based on nothing, has been for a long time. Trump is a big contributor to that. Doesn't matter how much gold is in Fort Knox, we're going to spend the same amount tomorrow regardless.

He won’t have to win the election to defeat Trump or Trump’s puppet
