re: So what’s the real story? Cases, hospitalizations, Deaths? - The Sultan of Swine
Seems that the increases in cases is driven mostly by the increase in testing. Positivity rate was dropping, last I saw....

re: What will you do this fall without football? - The Sultan of Swine
If there's no football I will be forced to drink my troubles away, become unattached to the responsibilities that go along with modern day society, while my mental and physical health deteriorate to the point of no return. So, no different that every fall....

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
Lol, I talked about multiple causes and the root cause in the first post of this thread. I never said secession is the root. "No slavery - no secession" is probably true since slavery was the whole reason for the South's economic structure. My point is that the South didn't have to secede to ...

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
No secession - no war. Slavery might have been stamped out over time politically, but the federal government was not going to take out slavery by force....

re: New Coaches: Recruiting rankings - The Sultan of Swine
The most recently recruit picked Missouri DC Walters over Arkansas DC Odom! That is now showing that Odom isn't a very good recruiter after all. Here is the link to show both DC recruiting Tyler Hibbler. LINK /
Congrats on beating Pittman for a 3* St. Louis recruit...

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
The South was pro-slavery in general. No one denies that. Although many such as Robert E Lee saw its demise as inevitable.
“We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themsel...

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
Jesus Christ. Here goes the racists trying to defend their indefensible position. Yes it was about slavery. I didn't even read your post because it was too long...so full disclosure. But been down this path before. Go read the articles of secession for each of the states and see how many t...

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
It's really just not a good measure for the reasons I stated. For the same reason you can't take that we went to war with Iraq because of "weapons of mass destruction" at face value....

re: Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
Is it minutiae since it never would have passed the senate had the south not seceded?
Yes, the point in bringing up the Morrill Tariff is that it was a key controversial north vs south issue at the time. Lincoln supported it and more importantly the economic philosophy behind it. ...
The Morrill Tariff wasn't passed until after most of the South seceded
My mistake. It had passed in the house but not the Senate. Minutiae though...

Was the civil war over slavery? - The Sultan of Swine
Not really. Let's start with where it began: Fort Sumter, which was used by the U.S. as a tariff collection port. It's not a coincidence this was the location for the first battle of the Civil War. Throughout the 1800s, the federal government was mostly funded through tariffs. Because of the ...

re: Arkansas: Cheap Arse University! - The Sultan of Swine
First they go after Bret Bielema and pry him away from Wisconsin. Bielema couldn't win so Arky fires him. Then refuses to honor his buyout, by claiming he didn't seek a better paying job. He went 29-34 at Arky, 1-7 in SEC play his last season. What program would touch/hire him?
He ...

re: Houston Nutt's worst play call - The Sultan of Swine
Was Nutt the OC?
Common belief is that Nutt took over play calling in the middle of the season. Regardless, I'd be shocked if he wasn't heavily involved in deciding the play call on a crucial 4th down...

Houston Nutt's worst play call - The Sultan of Swine
I decided to rewatch the 2006 LSU game the other day. I was in WMS for this game and don't think I ever rewatched it, other than the 80 yard Dmac run. For an unbiased spectator, this is a hell of a game to watch. Pretty close game throughout and the 4th quarter feels like one big sequence of big pla...
