What if he changes his stance?

I’d be pro Dabo if he’s willing/wanting to adapt

He chose Tech over Rice. He wasn’t a generational prospect lol he was developed into one.

Every team in the NFL passed on Brady 5+ times. Doesn't mean he wasn't a generational talent.
That's true, but I would worry about hiring a guy specifically for that ability, just because those types are so rare. You could go 4-5 years without there being QB as good at Mahomes/Ward that are rated that lowly. We could be moving on to Barry Lunney by the time Morris finds the next guy.
Woopig, I'll ceed some ground if you want to say Morris deserves credit for his QB evals. He does seem to have a knack for that and finding the diamonds in the rough

Yes Mahomes the 3 star 32nd ranked QB recruit was generational

If you think this isn’t true you’re out of your mind
James Franklin, Dan Mullen. Those are the only names that should be competing with Petrino.

I'm not always opposed to taking a chance on an up and comer, but this year we're sitting on a known, proven commodity. If we pass up on that option, it better be for another proven winner at a high level.

You’re right I guess his OC and QB coach in college had nothing to do with his success.

Mahomes without Eric Morris would be like D-Mac without Danny Nutt... exactly the same

John Mateer, Drew Mestemaker

Seem like decent college QBs I guess?

Cam Ward

For one he's not exactly looking that developed right now. For two, how many coaches has this dude had in his career? He spent 3 years in college with other coaches after his time with Morris. I guess we could give him 15% credit for developing a QB trending toward bust.

You’re delusional.

It's well known that Mahomes came into the league under-polished and was taken mainly due to raw talent... Not sure I'm the delusional one.
Honestly kind of a condemnation of the Texas Tech staff that they got Mahomes drafted behind Mitch Trubisky.

As a KC fan I probably owe Morris some support here actually

He threw for 10k yards in two years in college and was drafted top 10

Right. He's a generational talent. Arguably the best QB ever to play the game... Chad Morris could have got him drafted

Or they could be Kiffin, Drink, Heupel, Elko, etc.

Like I said, it's possible they work out, but their flash in the pan success at low levels is not a reliable indicator. Means next to nothing. They're shots in the dark

Mahomes came into the league raw and was developed by Andy Reid and Alex Smith. I'd give Morris very little credit there.

Golesh, Morris, Sumrall, Silverfield = Billy Napier, Mike Norvell, Justin Fuente, Tom Herman, Scott Frost

Zero reason to think any of those guys would work here. It's not impossible, but people that think them having a couple of years of success at a lower level is any indication that could translate here... that's just not how it works.

This is the resume of someone who hasn't done anything to garner consideration.
Petrino has better resume than anyone we could realistically hire. Honestly better than most that we couldn’t realistically hire too. And he’s actually done it here, at Arkansas, specifically.

Saying he hasn’t done anything to deserve consideration is hilarious to me.

I do enjoy that the fan base is truly split over something again though… we were united against Pitt for so long, it was getting boring
quote:

We’re still losing the same way we did under Pittman.

Bizarre… almost like it’s a Pittman team
quote:

nor has he done anything to garner that consideration

Insane comment
Another way to think of it...

We didn't fire Chad for going winless in the SEC his first season. I don't really even remember there being much pressure from the fanbase to do so. But we're going to let BP go for it, in what's not even a true first season?

Whoever you think we could realistically get, 99% chance they'd also lose all the games we have if they took over when BP did.

I just think it's goofy to judge Bobby off this season, when he has decades of coaching experience you could look at. There are 2 seasons that seem fair to say he did a subpar job.. the 2-8 Louisville year, and his last season at Missouri State. We know there were some personal circumstances around the 2-8 seasons. And we know in his last season at MoState, that he went to Fayetteville and was leading in the 4th quarter... it's hard for me to say he's lost it based on that season.

I'm afraid we're going to pass on BP when he's our best realistic option, because we're prisoners of the moment.
