Why bother with the portal if it's g league/draft?

No reason not to have a backup plan

Why is anyone worried?

Qb who was mediocre at best

Downgraded at WR

Not a lot of reason to believe the o line will be any better

Defense projects to be much worse

That said, if we get him I'll still be excited.

We have a good roster around him already so we wouldn't need him to be the star. That number for NIL could be totally off too.

Basically I'm at peace with whatever happens with Ament

I said it before but if he’s going for 3-4 million, there’s a lot you can do with that much money in the portal

So I'm guessing most of our returners are ~1 mil.

Billy
TB
DJ
Knox(really sounds like he'll be back)

4 mil for returning production

5* freshmen are probably 2+

Acuff - ~2mil
Thomas - ~2mil

call it 4 mil total

Ewin ~1.5 mil
Pringle ~1 mil

2.5 mil for transfers

That's already 11 million all together

Ament they're saying 3+?
Probably 2 more transfers

I'm just spitballing based on numbers I've heard tossed around. I'd say we're working with closer to 15 million

That sounds very familiar. SEC tried to make arky a big game for LSU but it will always be the least exciting for the Tigers.

Arkansas - LSU has a very long history. 70 games total. It made way more sense to put that game on rivalrly week than it does for us and Mizzou - a school we had hardly played at all before they joined the SEC
quote:

I would prefer they’re not but the SEC is shoving them down our throat. It’ll stick after 20-30 years. Especially in the part of the state that borders Missouri. Lots of Hog and Mizzou fans on both sides of the line.

It's funny because if you live south of Fayetteville, you'd never know Mizzou fans even exist in real life.

My answer for football and every sport really: Texas

Basketball you could actually make an argument for Kentucky, but it would be narrowed down to that sport. Not necessarily just a recency thing - some really great battles between the 2 through the 90s. Started rekindling a little during the Mike and Muss eras. Cal getting tossed at Bud. Ashley Judd calling our team thugs. Who could forget Aaron Harrison getting punked by random arkansas fan

Can't believe he's only 6'6. One of those guys that plays a lot bigger than he is

All that's left is Ament.

I think our odds are less than 50%. Who knows though.

I would rather have a big name portal guy. Watkins, Jackson, the Tech transfer (name is slipping my mind)
Nice depth piece for us. Ewin is the big fish

This I agree with. We could still get another really good fit but we'd be behind the 8 ball at that point
Funny because Boeing is back ordered for years with US carriers.

This move affects Boeing's sales 0% and maybe allows them to start catching up on their deliveries to US customers

Plus we might have TB back too

I think if we lock in Pringle, Ewin, and a catch/shoot 3 point shooter we'll be in great shape assuming retention

Yep I didn't mention him because most of the controversy is about backcourt guys, but I think he's very likely to be back

I think we likely don't get the sharpshooter we all want. Maybe if DJ leaves, but who knows who will be left at that time. I would love to have Ian Jackson over DJ, personally

I think it was mostly from Pierre's camp.

Him signing with SMU tells me that he had one goal from his recruitment - get as much $ as possible.

Floating the chicken man out there as an interested buyer is a great way to drive up prices.

I don't believe he ever visited us or was ever scheduled to

Thing is... I think people are just assuming we have a giant portal need that might not be there.

As of now it looks like we have these returning contributors in the backcourt

Knox
Billy
DJ

With guaranteed minutes to incoming freshmen

Acuff
Thomas

That's already 5 guys who figure to play a huge amount of minutes, for 3 lineup spots. And Sealy as depth.

Plus you have Ament, who probably projects to play at the 3 most of the time, who Cal really wants, and has made clear that his decision will be based on how the portal shapes out...

Now the frontcourt is a different story. But we have 2 guys (Ewin and Pringle) that are possibly silent commits at this point. Plus Rtail who's kind of an unknown but I'm guessing the staff sees a role for him.

Some of these "misses" look like really good players, but they don't necessarily have clear paths to playing a lot of minutes for us. I'm looking for Ewin to commit soon, and it would be nice to get Pringle as well, or another backup 5. That's pretty much all we need to have a rounded out roster, especially if we get Ament.
Saw this happening years ago. Conway lost all of its charm. Might as well just live in LR if that’s where you work

Sports fans are dramatic. I’ve been hearing about how miserable it is to be a razorback fan because of the foul ball and the loss in the sweet 16.

Doesn’t make sense to me. Yes they hurt but a huge percentage of teams would be thrilled to just be in the hunt. What’s miserable to me is not being relevant in football for the last 13 years. Heartbreaks and coming just short are part of what makes being a fan fun, in a weird way.

Arkansas should've beat them, but refs were solely rooting for Tech in OT.

I disagree. They were fairly dominant the last 10 minutes or so+ overtime.

If anything was flukey it was them shooting so poorly in the first half
