Arkansas fans deserve a better program. I am rooting for them to turn it around and for Mizzou-Arkansas to grow into a compelling rivalry game.

It certainly was.
Texas, A&M, Arkansas, TCU, SMU and Rice were all football powers at one point of time in history.
Baylor, Tech and Houston had decent histories as well.

Before face masks for many of them. And then later…other than Arkansas…they might have a good team now and then.

Well, in the sport that produces the greatest athletes on the planet, (track and field) we are still the premier program in the SEC and in the country.
I don't give a damn about football.

Yes but that doesn't mean that the SWC was some trash conference like the Sunbelt.

No…agree…but it wasn’t as good as the sec, Big8, Big 10, or PAC 10 More in line with the ACC.

Guess I'm trying to find a point here.
We know the admin waived the white flag on football. We suck at football. Got it.
If only there were any other sports...

They're self entitled pricks. NIL is here and their goose is cooked. Back to the Shula years they go

I would say that Arkansas was a top seven program in the '60s... And I'd even rank them higher than that if they hadn't been a bit up and down that decade.
I'd say in the '70s and '80s... Top 20. Sometimes top ten to fifteen.
All the other SWC teams besides Texas had their moments... but were never consistently good. TCU/Rice was really good in the '50s... Houston in the '70s and '80s. SMU in the early '80s, ATM in the late '80s.
Texas Tech and Baylor had a few good teams here and there... but really never had a consistent stretch of really good teams.
