Entertaining Band to watch every other year as well.

No other College Marching Band is doing the "Military Drill" shows that 8$4fit is still doing either.

They're worth staying in your seat to watch. (Instead of going to the bathroom, compulsively stuffing your face with Aramark garbage, leaving early to beat the traffic or go back to the tailgate to feed your alcohol addiction......

Why not just have two 8 team divisions and only have inter division games (7) and keep the rest of each teams scheduling as it currently is. The SEC Championship game would still be the championship game.

Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Alabama would be pretty cool

Don't think they will go that route.

It either has to be strict geographic pods of four OR two divisions of eight each.

We have to be in one with Ark, OM and MsSt.

You then have:
Texas, TAM, OU, Mizzou
Bama, Aub, Tenn, Vandy
Fla, UGA, SoCar, Kent

Anything else just opens up too many questions IMO.

An argument could be made that Bama, Aub, UGA, Fla get lumped together, leaving SoCar, Tenn, Vandy and Kentucky but I don't see them doing that.

If they let TAM slip out from playing Texas every year that is the most pussy shite ever.

Easiest thing to do is make two eight team divisions with MS/AL being the dividing line

West
LSU
UT
TAM
OU
Ark
Ole
MS St
Mizzou

East
Bama
Aub
Tenn
Vandy
Kent
Uga
SoCar
Fla

There is no way the SEC would separate Alabama and Auburn. That rivalry is too old and too important to the state of Alabama.

Of course, Bama will get to keep their other most important and vital rival as well: Tennessee.

It truly is remarkable how people who do this for a living can't seem to figure out the scheduling should be really, really easy.

SEC West: OU, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas
SEC South: A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi St.
SEC Central: Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
SEC East: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky

If the league plays an 8 game schedule each team will play the other three teams in their division (3 games); each division will play another division on a yearly rotating basis (4) games; then you play one more game vs. a team from one of the other two divisions (either on a rotating basis or based upon conference division standings from the previous year---just like the NFL does).

The divisions would be balanced (as best as possible) The ONLY yearly "historic" rivalry that wouldn't be naturally preserved is Auburn v. Georgia. However, I bet if you ask Auburn fans who their most hated rival is 99.9% would say Alabama. If you asked Georgia fans the same question the overwhelming majority would say Florida. BOTH of those yearly games are preserved.

This isn't difficult!

SEC should grow a pair and do an ALL SEC schedule. Maybe do some crossover games but make it the entire conference against another entire conference or have the games vetted to make sure they are competitive. If schools want to play in state cupcake games make them exhibition games before the season.

Bama's first two are always going to be Auburn and Tennessee. Maybe we're the 3rd rival, or maybe they choose A&M. I think we keep Florida, A&M, and Arkansas, but I'd like to keep playing Bama every year. Hell, I'll hate not playing Auburn annually!

I hear what you are saying, but any four team pod/division that doesn't include all the schools that are in the same state is complete bullshite in my opinion.

If Texas and TAM aren't in the same division it looks ridiculously weak for both of them, like they're hiding like cowards.

I get that a four team division of LSU, Ark, Ole, MSST lines up really well for us, but why fault us for having a great geographic location? frick, the whole conference is based on location to begin with.

That is really why I think they just two an East/West division and we then rotate 1 or 2 teams from the East every season.

LSU, OU, Texas, TAM, Ark, OM, MsSt, Mizzou
vs
Bama, UGA, Fla, Aub, Tenn, Kent, SoCar, Vandy

That 8 v 8 seems pretty reasonable to me.

Is a Bama alum still in charge of this? If so, you don't want this. LSU, Auburn, UF, and UGA would all get the short end while Bama would get the easiest schedule, and it wouldn't be close.

We saw this happen with the bridge scheduling BS a decade ago.

There will be no more divisions. Top 2 SEC records will make it to the SECCG.

You guys aren’t keeping up. Dellenger had the article this morning. Every “Big 8” team would play two Big 8 permanents and one “Little 8” permanent. The little guys get two of each other and one Big Boy.

In the current model, Tennessee is a Little 8 (A&M has their place with the Big Big Boys) so Bama’s permanents would be Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee.

Since things have a way of balancing out I think they should make it geographically. Everything else is bias based for some reason.

I'm pondering who will be the final weekend opponent for each team...

4 schools play ACC teams:
Georgia - GT
SC - Clemson
Kentucky - Louisville
Florida - Florida St.

A couple others are obvious:
Vandy - Tennessee
Alabama - Auburn
Ole Miss - Miss State

This leaves
Missouri
Arkansas
Texas
Oklahoma
A&M
LSU

Honestly, Texas - Texas A&M should be the final game.

If you place Arky - Missouri there as well, it leaves an issue: LSU and Oklahoma do not have a permanent rival to play on the last weekend.

The solution would be for the last 6 to be paired as:

LSU - Texas A&M
Texas - Arkansas
Oklahoma - Missouri

Which would also open the door for OU and Missouri to resume playing OSU and Kansas, as they should.

Thoughts?
