He basically said Washington could go back to the outfield and be elite at any time. Kinda like he didn't really need much practice there. I think this move is mainly with an eye towards next year. Laya, Patrick, Davis, and Washington are all presumably back. Along with Braun, Serna, Santarelli, etc. SS/2B/3B project to be the more available positions. If Washington could play one of those it appears to give a more clear path for more of your upper echelon returners to be in the lineup.

Jay also stated that Laya has the strongest arm. Not that that's extremely noteworthy but it must be noticeable for him to point it out.

I also found it interesting that Watters is listed as OF/1B on the roster. I assumed he'd play LF every game with maybe some DH sprinkled in. I wonder if he actually plays any 1B this season.

I also just noticed that Nate Davis is now listed as Nate Davis-Cleary. And Washington is now listed as IF/OF. I don't think he was before the press conference.

There were probably 200-300 people in the stands. I was very disappointed. I thought it would be thousands. More "fans" than that will probably be b!tching on here after the 1st loss of the season.

The floor seats were mostly full, though, with players, coaches, etc.

Moore would have to get beat out to not start. There sure aren't 3 pitchers with a greater chance to start than him right now.

I personally would like to see William Schmidt on Friday. He's more likely than Evans to stay a starter.

Why are yall acting like Dardar wasn't good? His numbers were fine. He just wasn't available most of the time.

They haven't in the past

The deadline to decide to decide between LSU and JUCO is the start of the semester.

Throwing out crazy, plausible possibilities... he could just come for the fall and see how he likes school and where he fits into the pecking order and still go JUCO for the spring if he isn't enjoying it. Hell, he could do all this and STILL come back to LSU later. We saw this with Priester and Grant Fontenot.

I would imagine 7 figures over 3 years but that's a good offer. It may could even be 1.7 over 3 with less in year 1. Then you are literally not losing any money over the next 3 years and still have the possibility of gaining more in 3 years.

I really think the going to JUCO and staying committed to LSU route is best for both parties given his desires. If he comes here, we're going to pay, he's not gonna pitch as much as he wants, then he's going to transfer. If he goes JUCO, he either gets what he wants after year 1 and doesn't wind up pitching for another school or he comes here when he can compete for a rotation spot.

I wonder if there's a world in which Schmidt goes JUCO but remains a commit and then isn't offered what he wants again next year and comes to LSU when he can actually get a rotation spot.
