The same melt happened last year on a slightly lesser level.

Correct. It’s basically a two year old phenomenon. The question is, then, why did the NFL go 58 years without doing this, and suddenly decide this is the route they want to go?

I'm guessing the internet/social media, which is why it exploded under Obama.

I’m guessing it’s a chicken or the egg thing that sort of coincides with this seeming rabid desire of historically normal institutions to poke “normies” in the eye.

You already admitted the emotional reaction of such folks was not surprising to you. You can’t believe it wasn’t to those who made the choice. It seems silly to argue it wasn’t at least a partial driving force in making the choice, then. Hell, it’s hard to really argue there was any point but “triggering.”

The landscape of the emotional right in 1993 was nothing like it is today

Due to what? Why do you think peak pop era Michael Jackson didn’t piss them off but some guy they’ve never heard of singing in Spanish does? It’s just cause they’ve changed?

Do you not think the 1993 NFL could have found an entertainer to equally trigger them? Do you, even for a minute, wonder why that wouldn’t even be remotely considered as something they’d want to do then, but something you (or at least many others) seem giddy about now?

Solely due to some vast sea change amongst the “emotional right” huh?

Since MJ in 1993

That at the height of his national popularity. You think a large portion of the NFL viewing public was pissed by that?
Tell us how far back this goes for the NFL?

From the huge population of emotional types? No. Not at all. It's pretty on brand since 2016 or so.

So one can logically conclude that was at least part of the point here, right?

It's been a bad month with Bad Bunny and it seems the new sky screaming/virtue signaling meltdown focus is on Eileen Gu

Do you think this is a surprising reaction?

Endymion started in 1966 as this is the 60-year anniversary. Per the interwebs, Bacchus had 250 members in 1969 not really super krewe numbers. But it did grow to become one just like Endymion.

As someone else mentioned. Endymion was a Gentilly neighborhood parade when it started. Its evolution to “super krewe” is arguably more compelling than Owen Brennan just deciding he wanted to create one from scratch to bolster weekend tourist business at restaurants, though.

Love doing steaks like that. Flames are a must. Not much on steak marinades but I always say eat it how YOU like it, not what people say should "only" go on steaks. But I'm an SPG guy.

That's an old school method from back when you could only get shite steaks in a grocery store and they were typically cut rather thin.

It's certainly not what you want to do with a nicely marbled butcher's cut, but it still has some merits occasionally if you are in a store and pick up those kinda thin crappy grocer's cuts.

Dude, they don’t know we exist. The entire nation is talking about this and it hasn’t stopped them from doing their jobs.

Sorry Chief. I will get back to the investigation in a minute, but there's a 39 page thread on TigerDroppings I need to check out first.

From what she's said, I think she prefers the Vincentians. Who have pretty much all the social justice aspects of the Jesuits (maybe even a bit more), with only about half of the academic rigor.

The pizza scene in BR is rough. I'd start there. Although, I'm not sure most residents even know what good pizza is

For instance, they'll be lining up when the new fleur de lis opens and probably waiting up to an hour for the most mediocre pizza one can find. They also think red Zeppelin is the best in the city, and they use a frozen dough.

D'Angelo blew up in the 1990s offering pretty legit NY style pizza. Sadly he spread himself way too thin and quickly started shirking quality -- which may have either stemmed from or lead to various family squabbles.

Bottom line, the people we elect to represent us aren’t representing us.

For the bulk of our history there was seen a value in getting our elected representatives on record as to what particular issues they might CHUSE not to do so.

Just as likely, they realized it's a pretty big can of worms they didn't want to open up on what they would suddenly now have to start "policing" at mardi gras.
I understand. I was purely addressing VOR's ongoing ignorance on basically all things.
