Another poster asks a very simple and valid question:
So you became an LSU fan in your early 20’s?

To which you say...

"No but I went to LSU because I was a big time Tiger fan"

Which contradicts your own previous comment. If you didn't have a diploma from LSU growing up, then by your own words you shouldn't have rooted for them.

You also said "I had scholarship offers out the arse all over the country. I could have gone anywhere." but I seriously doubt that because your ability to reason is very poor.

I have a good friend who loves Mississippi State but attends Ole Miss. Sometimes the team you love doesn't have a school that offers the program you wish to major in.

Not weird at all. I graduated from LSU, but was a fan before I attended. Many of my childhood friends were and remain fans, only some of who ultimately attended or graduated from LSU. Almost every sports fan in my extended family pulls for LSU despite only a handful of LSU grads. My neighbor pulls for LSU and he attended Southeastern.

T-shirt fans = ok helps your fansbase and absolutely nothing wrong with it. I bet you can name some t-shirt fan that more of a fan than a current student.

Fair weather fans ought not to be taken seriously cause you really don't back your team.

Band wagon fans ought to be ashamed of themselves cause they bring nothing to the table other than embarrassment

Actually, it seems to me that those guys who only became a fan after they enrolled seem more "band wagon" than the guy that has been a fan since he was a kid.

Yeah, kids and high school students have no business cheering on a college team until they enroll at a school.

We need a better way to police non-alum fandom.

It's not "weird" at all, its just different. When I go to games at my schools, I enjoy touring the campus and remembering when I was a student, visiting with old classmates, etc., and it feels like a homecoming. If I never attended the school, I think I would always feel kind of like a visitor to the campus.

But the sidewalk fans are essential to maintaining the current level of the sport. People are free to spend their entertainment dollars however they like.

I've never lived in Pennsylvania, but I like the Steelers.

Just about every uneducated redneck in the state of MS is a die hard Alabama fan.

It's weird to follow 17-22 year old college students playing games anyway. So what? People could be into things a lot worse

What’s so weird about it. My dad grew up in Birmingham and was an Alabama fan so of course I grew up watching Bama games as much as I could as a kid in the 80s. I’ve always been an Alabama fan. Always have been always will be good or bad.

I mean, the majority of fans didn't attend the school they cheer for.
Just don't be one of those figs who roots for different schools in football/basketball...
