I give them a pass if they are from the area or spent some years of their life there.

Get a diploma from the school or don’t root for them

So you became an LSU fan in your early 20’s?

No but I went to LSU because I was a big time Tiger fan

I had scholarship offers out the arse all over the country. I could have gone anywhere.

I have state and self pride so I went to my hometown university and I’m still an OT baller.

Sorry you’re stupid AND poor

So your contention is that a dropout athlete shouldn't be able to root for their school? Seems legit

It really sucks for us because you embarrass the entire fan base with nearly every classless, immature post you make.

Please work on your superiority complex, you seek validation way too much. Therapists can locate the source of your crippling, suppressed insecurities and maybe help you.

Not that weird. I know folks that have been going to LSU games since they were a child, yet went elsewhere because its cheaper.

People didn’t play for Saints or Astros or Red Soxs but still invest time in professional teams

I’d wager your average hardcore fan that grew up on the school rather than attended it probably pumps in more money to the institution than any of the undergrad cucks in your family tree, if there even are any. Even outside of sports. Your logic is so flawed. Dropouts and high school only grads run half the country and you don’t even know it.

Look at Bama’s student section this year. Outside the Mizzou game, that’s the worst I’ve ever seen a bunch of supposed graduates and people getting degrees at a university support the team.

Vanilla Ice turning away everybody under 18 at Death Valley gates because they haven’t attended LSU

College sports would just about die off if only people who attended the schools were allowed to be fans.

Why would you purposely want to limit your fan base?

This is the vast majority of the SEC judging from a scan of the bleachers. They don't understand that college sports is about institutions of higher learning, not a sports franchise. You should have to be an alumni or current student to get a ticket.

If only alum were fans there wouldn't be much of an athletic program

I have never understood what kind of level of snobbishness one must attain to make a statement like:

“Get a diploma from the school or don’t root for them.”

Changing your fandom is odd, but selecting a team to pull for is no biggie. You don't need a connection.

A buddy who went to a good small school became a huge Georgia Tech fan when his sister played volleyball there.

Not weird at all. Notre Dame had a huge national following because of the "brand", or it's Catholic affiliation. Kids grow up watching and cheering for a state or regional team. A son, daughter or nephew attends the college. Prior to NFL, NBA expansion there were lots or states or regions without professional sports so college teams were adopted. There are dozens of reasons.
I never attended LSU because they didn't have a college of Pharmacy but I grew up listening to LSU games on radio in the late 50s and early 60s. My whole family were huge fans. If my dad and older brothers weren't at the game, there was a party every Saturday night at our house as grown men sat around listening to the broadcasts.
Don't be such a snob.

I agree with this, but if it weren't for my AU degree I would most certainly be less engaged. Can't imagine that I would be this passionate about a school if I did not attend and graduate from it.

Dumbest shite ever. I did not attend or graduate from Alabama. I went where my D2 running talent would help pay for it. But my earliest memory of attending a Bama game at Denny Stadium (Bryant wasn’t added til 2 years later) was 1973. I was 8 years old. Bama beat Va Tech 77-6 (look it up). I’ve probably been to more games than many graduates, so FU and your daddy’s money and your pledge pin.
