How weird is it to follow a college team if you never attended the school?

I don't understand the Kentucky bandwagon fascination if you live in Iowa or Alaska.

Success breeds fair weather fans. Just how it is.

There were thousands of Florida fans in East Tennessee during the 2000s

This is silly. Where you grow up, particularly in the south, dictates what college team you root for. Most of my family is from north Florida and root for Florida or FSU. Most of them did not go to college at UF or FSU. You don’t have to go to a school to root for them

It's weird, my dad was an FSU fan when I started watching in the early 90s and hated UF. Maybe it was the blue?

If you are from the same state it isn't weird.

Like if you grow up in Kentucky it's totally normal to be a Kentucky fan even if you never went there.

If you grew up in like California it's kinda weird.

Instate tuition is a big deal not to mention scholarships revolve around state lines. Worlds transient. In summation not a big deal

My Dads whole side was UF and my Moms whole side was FSU. I chose UF because I loved going to games with my Dad. Eventually my mom flipped and now is as die hard UF as the rest of us

I was never given grants or scholarships until I passed the Core.

My GPA and application was the only thing that Auburn saw.

They made me pay for the rest. They Paid for everything after my Sophomore year though. I have been thankful for that.

What if your father was a QB on a national championship winning team, but you didn't go to that school (or any other school for that matter)?

I think many times you’re seeing an alum. All sorts of cities across the country have viewing parties and whatnot for alumni. Even moreso for big schools. I imagine a school like A&M could have some former students just about everywhere. You also see people whose parent(s) has a connection to the state/school and just grew up a fan.

Who gives a frick? I’m sending the fourth generation of my family to Bama right now. I welcome any fan that wants to support Bama, whether they attended, earned a degree, or not.

Life’s too short to be petty about trivial shite like fan hood.

$79,000 a year is very comfortable for one person.

I don't particularly understand the laws of Alabama or Georgia, but do whatever you deem best for you.

what i think is weird is when the sidewalk fans are lynch mobbing to fire a college coach.

they act like colleges are pro sports teams.
