Did they play in 1918? If so they played during the deadliest pandemic in history. H1N1 made COVID-19 seem like the sniffles.

They did. November 2, 1918. The final score was 39-0 Clemson.

Do you know why the streak doesn't go back to 1897? Georgia didn't field a football team because of an unusual circumstance (WWI) in 1917 and 1918, and made fun of Georgia Tech for being a "Military School" and still fielding a team. GT got their feelings hurt, and wouldn't schedule Georgia for the better part of a decade.

Would have created a scheduling issue for the other. 10 non-ACC rival schools...Conference only allows the SEC to dictate the whole schedule.
I bet you see the ACC drop the non-con game.

It's been about that long since that game was relevant too

Greg Sankey and the SEC dropped the ball on this one. These state rivalry games should have been saved. It's bullshite that they aren't happening this year.

Tech will not be missed! Was in the SEC but got out because they got their arse kicked!!!
Posted on 7/31/20 at 9:55 am to Dawgfanman
The games were already scheduled. All both leagues had to do was not frick it up. But they did. No doubt, Sankey the Yankee fricked up yet again. How easy would it have been to say ACC, if you'll agree to play all these games on Dec 5, we'll start our seasons on Sept 17, and these rivalry games will be the last one on the schedule, deal? See how easy that was? fricking idiots!

Tech win...
They will claim it.
They will claim it.

So UGA and UF have "rivalry" games while the SECW champion has an off week before the SECCG?
Screw that.

The championship game is Dec 19. Everybody has a bye week Dec 12. You're worried about playing Tech on Dec 5th? SMH

Oh yeah,just petrified.
Did you watch the game last year? Won by 45 pts and lost our best offensive player (swift) and our best WR for the SECCG.
The regular season needs to end on the exact same date for everyone and having 2 weeks off before the SECCG is even worse.

Uga can’t play tech but they can travel to Mizz, Arky or East Texas.
Makes no sense.

Yes. According to the Internet’s we played in 1918 and lost 39-0. Luckily in 101 years we started to catch up with them as a program and only lost 38-3 in 2019.

While that works for the half of us with established in state rivalries, it doesn't for Auburn/UNC, Georgia/UVA, and Arkansas/ND games and any others that would've been put together in a +1 SEC/ACC scenario.
It would have worked for Arkansas/Notre Dame, as that game was scheduled to be in South Bend.
My guess on what ND does for their non-conference game is they'll move the ND/Navy game from Dublin to South Bend.
Not playing Tech on Thanksgiving weekend sucks.

Hell, the 1957 H2N2 Asian flu killed 116,000 in the US (around 230,00 in today's numbers)
Didn't stop anyone from playing.

These 4 games would have met their "in ACC school's state" requirement.
1/2 by, what, a 1 hr. drive?
