just won a national title with the best team in SEC history and the best team of all time resume wise. How much time does this give him in regards to job security? I know losing records are obviously unacceptable. What would be acceptable if not a national title, say for at least five years?

Just curious.

As an LSU fan who understands this season was one that will never be replicated, I’d say I would be happy with 9-3 being the floor for 3 out of the next five seasons.

I think that’s acceptable with a couple 10,11,12 or more win seasons in there.

Never more than 3 losses. Never 3 or more losses 2 years in row. And Playoffs every 4 year cycle.

Your wonder boy HC just got bounced from the CFP for the THIRD time.

How much job security does he have when it’s proven he can’t finish the job like Coach O?

Just curious

In 4 year stretches:

1 playoff

2 NY6

1 mulligan/rebuild year (no worse than 8-4 and probably should be more like 9-3)

That is my baseline expectation for the program.

the LSU defense was 9th in the conference in total defense. That precludes "best team in SEC history" category.

The LSU defense gave up yards and points out of boredom. When it counted, they held every team to their lowest scoring total of the entire year.

When we lost the #1 position because our defense was not good enough, they clamped down and held Aggie, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Clemson to their lowest point totals.

If the recruiting stays up, they should keep him in to perpetuity. At that point you’re just in a holding pattern until a star QB comes along.

I think a playoff run every 5 years would be great. Coach O has job security for sure. If he loses the game to Clemson, then maybe his seat gets warm after a 4-5 loss year. But now, he's set. Here's my reasonable expectations:
2020 Rebuild and first year with Myles Brennan 8-4 floor
2021 Brennan's RS Senior Year, new coaches start clicking, NY6 bowl floor
2022 Top recruiting classes start to get on the field and New QB, 10-2 floor
2023 Playoff Run
2024 Hard to say, revolves around QB situation

Playing Florida every year is a challenge, they are always a tough out.

2011 Alabama was only 60% on FGs and didn’t average 40 yards a punt. Cross them off too.

I think Ed could win governor of that state. He’s going to be just fine at LSU.

Good post. Think 3 losses should be max expectation here unless we are decimated by injuries/issues. Even next year I expect 9-3.
Think 21 could be a year to possibly make a run. Brennan's Sr year, RBs full year of action, maybe get lucky and Marshall comes back but we will never be a issue, Gilbert ready to start, OL with more experience for the young OTs. Defense will have a load of returning kids.
22 could be back down a bit because of qb but 23 forward there are few excuses. Any more than 1 4 loss season in the next 5 will have his head called for
