I'm not sure he could play the position here.
Maybe not but this is an age of situational sports and in football a situational pass rusher can play 10 snaps a game and impact it. Remember Harold Perkins or Marcel Brooks as Freshmen? 1 sack a game gets you 12 sacks and 1st round consideration.
Besides we've recruited ideally sized kids that cant play either. It's a crapshoot.

Does the actual data sound biased to you?
Statistics can be framed, manipulated and outright fabricated to drive an agenda. Medical trials are notoriously famous for being rigged and framed to show exactly what those leading it intended it to. Hence the point of not believing anything from media particularly pertaining to politics or medical trials. The covid vaccine stopped the spread remember? We do
Read up on the coach. 2 years ago at a HS that battled for a state crown. Switched over to Hayfield after accusations of ineligible players, bringing with him quite a few of his former players who just happened to move(wink, wink). Fast forward to late in the season rumors start of transfer malfeasance(by parents of holdover players at Hayfield who suddenly are riding the pine due to the players he brought over and in), text messages between the coach, the AD and members of the Fairfax school district get publicized and all hell breaks lose. Team gets ruled ineligible, fights it, declared eligible midweek of the first playoff game then proven to be guilty and disqualified again. Coach, AD, Fairfax school board all shamed and outed for cheating, including payment evidence to players families to facilitate the moves. Coach bails and starts St James Academy football program. 1st year, national schedule and wrecking shop until last week. Ineligible for the state title. It's a football/sports factory that is becoming more and more prevalent in the state. Basketball schools in particular.
Story may be missing some parts, slightly incorrect in others but you get the jist. Guys a cheater that now can do so without penalty.

re: Our small class of 16 reduced big time if we go past early signing period with no Coach

If we miss the portal, and dont have a coach during the portal to keep current roster guys here, concerned 2026 and then 2027 then become default 6-6 seasons. I dont get it tbh. Hire up and coming coach who grinds for the program. Why wait? You're going to miss on half a freshman class, and lose 1-2 yrs of classes with roster departure + lack of portal adds with 0 coach to dictate the additions. Our team will be horrible for 2 yrs by waiting past the portal date
This is the absolute worst case scenario and also maybe the most likely. I get the waiting for the right guy but what good is the right guy if hes starting off with essentially 2 lost seasons to start? The portal could gut us with no coach and no way other than the coaching change windows to refill it and make it better(and no qb worth salt). On top of that a barren recruiting class and the set back is 2 years minimum. Meaning more of the excuses Brian Kelly was allowed the first 2-3 years. "The right guy" fails like Kelly and we are back to the Hallman/Archer era. No thanks. Waiting out a playoff coach would be a disaster i dont care who it is. None of the possible candidates are good enough to wait them out. Kiffin included.

Correct. Would be a program killer. Dude cant even get a RB rotation correct much less an entire program. If he gets sour grapes over not getting the job, so be it. Hes a great LA recruiter at LSU. Hes harmless elsewhere and diminishes his value tremendously. If hes smart he knows where and how his bread is buttered. Recruiting LA for LSU from an almost meaningless position coach job. Only less meaningful position he could coach would be TEs.
Jayne Mansfield had quite a pair.

They were an out from losing the World Series with all the money spent or deferred. The players stepped up and made plays regardless of pay status. That's baseball. Other teams, and more importantly rival fans, dont like it, do better. Sour grapes are sour grapes no matter how theyre worded or what excuse is used to justify them.
I agree with you. It's shortsighted and chasing the past and what could have been. He retired for a reason that he clearly stated. I'd welcome him but hes not the guy I'd go with. We'd just be searching again in 3-4 years.
The field. It's a schizophrenic type of season. Chalk isn't gonna do well. They are likely the best team but far from elite. There is no elite this season.

Greatness isn’t a longevity award. We think of Bo Jackson as a great because we witnessed him. No one 1st hand has an issue that he never ran for 1,000 yards in a single season. Ohtani starting pitching a game 7 while being the best batter is worth 5 MVPs and a can of soup if he wins.
And if he gets shelled and does nothing at the plate do we eliminate him from the discussion?Would it take away from his greatness as you've defined or can that greatness only be improved upon and never lost once gained?
Greatness, true greatness, can be momentary, though that's the moment not necessarily the player(Joe Carter, Jack Morris, Aaron Boone for instance) or a longevity based award. In the sense of this discussion its absolutely a longevity award. When talking the greatest of all time you dont judge that based on a moment. It's based on the entire picture. Ohtani isn't close to the goat discussion yet. Even longevity based awards that aren't long enough can rule you out of the GOAT discussion. See Mike Trout. He was ordained until longevity kicked his arse thereby eliminating him from the real discussion.

Same. Safe to bet against the Saints most weeks if possible.

His last 2 football contracts, which are really what matter, hes cost 2 universities a combined 120 mil or so in wasted money to pay those 2 coaches to go away. On paper at least. If that's not a firable pattern I dont know what is. Johnson was a great hire. Mulkey was also but ties got her here. The 2 biggest money sports have been duds. Firable offenses.

Your football coach is worth more than $12 million a year if they’re winning.
Yet a roster of 105(Big Ten did adopt it) is worth only 20 accumatively and that's scoffed at. It's the coach contracts folks should have an issue with. Most end up paid off millions to go away. Players meanwhile are threatened with legal action to recover funds if they choose to leave.

Im gonna be honest with you, I've never left the great USA and I couldnt tell you the last time I saw a Downs person. I see little people more often and even that's rare. And im out in public all day long. I know the traditional look but maybe I'm missing something.

Indiana played ONE ranked team last year during the regular season and got destroyed. They then got in the playoffs and were destroyed in the first game.
Then just last week they traveled to Autzen Stadium, home of the longest home field streak in the country at the time, and handled Oregon who many had as one of the top 2-3 teams in the country by the eye test. Kelly has nothing like that on his 3+ years resume here. Just inconsistent football teams that are lousy on one side of the ball or the other. Not one complete football team in 3+ years.

Another one of these policies that will be celebrated on here right now but when another administration takes over the same people will be screaming “but what are they hiding!!!???
Im a right winger but I'm also not stupid. Right wing media is just as complicit as left wing media. Left wing just has a louder voice.
The bigger issue is not the press reporting/framing what's leaked, its the leakers themselves. This does nothing to stop them from initiating the call. In most cases I'd imagine the leaker is the initiator. With no leaker the press wouldn't know what to ask for.

I agree. Issue is, Nuss and defenses will know it too. While in many instances it will work and be a mismatch, inevitably based on his history, Nuss will stupidly try to force some in that will cost us.
Stats like this, while interesting for sure, drive my pure disdain for the analytics phenomenon. At some point its just too much. It's as if theyre trying to convince us our eyes dont see what we think they do.
Alcohol is responsible for millions of deaths, most people that drink it are miserably annoying to those who dont, it stinks and is more expensive pound for pound. Yet widely accepted and not blamed at all for the downfall of society. Let's ban it and see how quickly society goes to shite. Have you learned at all how society acted during prohibition?
Ban weed and stoners will, as they always did before and many still do, quietly call the local dealer, get a bag and carry on without a whimper. Just because you dont enjoy something doesnt mean others cant. Get the frick over it and get a drink. Better yet smoke a joint. You'll feel better.
