If they could recruit and instill an ounce of discipline (and I’m sure they could) then yes. It took Osborne years to pull it off and go on an epic run. It wouldn’t be easy but those 2 could absolutely pull it off.

Stupidest question I ever heard. When will the shite show postings stop?

Now do Washington and Michigan State.
What?
Washington last won a split title in 1991 and Michigan State last won it in 1966. What’s your point?

Problem is recruiting.
And Saban would cure that, quickly.

They've both got just as many playoff appearances as UGA and FSU, and more than Miami, USC, UCLA, GT, schools right smack in the middle of talent oases.

No doubt about it. He would wreck the Big 10

The question is about winning a national title, not making the playoffs.
This isn’t about Saban now, it’s about 50-55 year old Saban. And while a good recruiter, he’s running a pro-style offense predicated on run first. His defense is built to stop the run with big, slow, powerful guys. He hasn’t adapted at that point to modern offense, running it or defending it.
I don’t think it would work once you faced the Ohio St, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia’s of today’s game. I’m excluding Alabama because without him who knows how good they are at this point.

No! As demographics and college football has changed far too much for Nebraska to ever be relevant again. I like rural Nebraska; it reminds me some what of rural Louisiana, but nonetheless, the days of Nebraska being a powerhouse football power are over with.

One of the things that makes Saban so great is that when he has hardware in front of him, he rarely loses. The preparation and standard his programs have a second to none and it's been that way since 2010. Regardless of what system he ran(btw he won a natty with that formula in 2015, long after that style had become stale), you cant discount that part of his coaching.

Yes but would have to be current saban as recruiting is the problem with turning Nebraska around quickly. Saban being the coach would immediately draw top talent to the program.

I think prime Saban would put Nebraska in championship contention within five years with a chance to win it all if the stars aligned.

It really can't be underestimated that one of Alabama's long detractors was "You can't recruit big time stars anymore to po-dunk Tuscaloosa!" A
I heard that shite all the time in Florida during the early 2000s. And don't forget the famous, "Bama's dead!"

Osborne had dominant teams. Osborne never failed to win atleast 9 games, and he never lost to a team from Kansas. He had national title contenders in 1982, 1983, and 1993 before he won it all. The main thing keeping him from winning titles was Switzer’s Oklahoma program. 1984, 1985, and 1987 are great examples of OU derailing championship minded Nebraska teams
Nebraska from 1973-1992 was basically modern Georgia but in a more shallow conference. From 1993-1997, they were basically what Alabama is now

Saban is so well known for being damn near invincible that he would recruit a top 5 class his first year and it would roll from there.

Compare apples, not apples and oranges, if Saban was HC at Kneebraska 10 yrs ago he would be able to recruit talent there...what is a recruit going to do on a night out ??? Go yee haw with an upperclassman and ride around town in a convertible ???

If you can recruit at Oklahoma, you can recruit in Nebraska.
There is not a more passionate fanbase dedicated to a single team in the US.
And, as many have state, Nebraska was a national power, known for its powerful, corn-fed offensive line.
Yes, Saban could do it.

This is only a thread bc no one understands why Nebraska is so bad

Saban could.
He’d figure it out.
Plus with the resume, recruits would come to Lincoln.
Without the resume, he’d do good enough to progress to a elite program eventually.
I think Saban would win almost anywhere.
If he had been at Georgia, Florida, or Texas it would be unreal.
I’d like to see him at a middling power 5 program like Arizona State, NC State, or Illinois.
I think he would win the league in 3 years and a nattie within 5 years.

Absolutely. A good head coach that can recruit good coachable talent and build a program can win at any P5 school. Bryant and Saban type coaches can build a program, given a free hand to do so, in 5 years in today’s environment easier than they could in their earlier days. Build a staff that can evaluate kids and build a ropier quickly. At least half the staff needs to be primarily focused on coaching. Get kids that are the right fit instead of chasing stars. A fan base like Nebraska would show up to support a decent team and would make a good team better. By year 5 he has all his guys in place and is a playoff team

Oklahoma recruits better because it is closer to Texas and are guaranteed atleast one game in that state every year. As for “things to do” I’m sure being a 20 minute drive away from an NBA team doesn’t hurt OU either.
They have sustained themselves in the 2000s, played in numerous big games, and consistently won the Big12. Nebraska hasn’t had that sustained success, their last “big game” was in 2001 against Miami.
Oklahoma isn’t some corn filled Midwestern state. Norman, Oklahoma is as far south as Memphis and Chattanooga. Just a much better location than remote Nebraska
