And Tommie Frazier was badder than them all. 3 time NC Game MVP (in a row). He doesn’t need your BS awards.
Travel. Every once in a while. Nebraska in August is Georgia in August. I live in Georgia and grew up in Nebraska. Nebraska in March is freezing while Georgia is 60 degrees plus. Wonder why 7 of 8 teams from the south are in the CWS. It’s not complicated math.
Nebraska hasn’t cancelled their program.

Not SEC or Alabama, but 1991-1997 Nebraska was 78-8-1. Seems like a hundred years ago.

Erk Russell not being in the HOF is an absolute travesty. Let’s see any coach build a program from literally nothing to a national champion - three times in 8 years. But, he didn’t coach the minimum number of seasons. Absolute joke. Erk and Pirate should be in the HOF in 2023. Recognize and appreciate genius when we’re lucky enough to see it.

The records for Solich and Pelini are a bit misleading. Yes, they won 9 games a year, but when you beat 9 teams you’re supposed to and get your doors blown off by the 3 ranked teams you play, are you really anything great? The years those guys were fired, most of the losses were lopsided. The recruiting under Solich was falling. The new AD (worst hire in Nebraska history) had it in for Pelini. Pelini’s antics and things he said to the media certainly didn’t help.

As for money, I don’t know about having more or less than anyone else, but they do have the horsepower to raise $7.5 million in a night to fire a coach 3 weeks ahead of a buyout cut. They will also have a new $155 million athletic facility finishing next year to go along with the $100 million they dropped into the facilities about 10 years ago. Money won’t be the problem to get a coach.

Lastly, I don’t think a fan of a team from El Paso is qualified to run down Lincoln.
You may be right and you may be wrong, but I’m not sure a South Carolina fan is qualified to lecture anyone on prominence.
You puff out your chest and ask about irrelevance - and 7 months ago you ran away from Wake Forest.

We have 5 NC’s that were shown on color TV. How many do you have?

If he throws 100 or 105, then Nolan Ryan threw 150. The guy throws hard, but 105 is ridiculous.

Damn right. Little league park.
For what it’s worth, the ‘95 Nebraska team did curb-stomp Nick Saban.

10-4 all time vs A&M ….something, something. You do have some great fans. They were very welcoming when our Bill Callahan coached team beat them in the final seconds.

Ah, the Lawrence Phillips argument phenomenon. Nebraska hasn’t been good in years (as everyone loves to remind us) but it was though that incident happened yesterday. Did Osborne make the right call on that- no. Did he need Phillips to win a title- no. Phillips was a waste of amazing talent brought down by a terrible upbringing. Even Saban said he was the best he’d seen.

Despite his faults, Osborne also coached 46 Academic All-Americans in 25 years. You find me another coach that’s done that and let me know.

If it was as simple as steroids or Creatine wouldn’t every team do it? I don’t remember a team of professional wrestlers or bodybuilders winning the Orange Bowl in the 80’s or 90’s. It couldn’t be about having players that perfectly fit a system and excellent coaching. That can’t be it.

For a team that is no longer relevant, they sure do generate a great deal of discussion, even on a SEC message board.

Yep - he cheated. Glad to see that has all been cleaned up now. That explains all the parody in recruiting we’ve seen the last 10 years.

Maybe he was just a great coach that had a better plan?
1995. Beat #2 by 38 points.

1971. Beat 2,3,4 in final poll.
Easy- Damian Jackson. Former Navy Seal / current Husker. He could take the room apart for you.
For a SEC board, Nebraska sure does get discussed a lot around here.

First, let’s stop with the partial qualifier “loophole” stuff. It was allowed within the rules and used by many teams. It must have been tough on Tom to not have a team comprised of 100 future surgeons like your teams currently enjoy. Look up the Academic All Americans that played for him- I think it’s more than any other school has total.

Second- if you think Nebraska was the only school that had players on steroids; bless your heart. They invented strength and conditioning for football. The only mistake was showing others what they were doing.

Nebraska lost a pile of bowl games in a row- no doubt. Playing Miami in their home stadium year after year isn’t as easy as it sounds.

Oklahoma taking the high road and bashing Nebraska: come on. While I like Barry Switzer and miss the rivalry, they were SMU dirty for years.

Osborne won over 10 games a year (in 11 game seasons) and took apart some pretty goad coaches (and SEC teams) along the way. He also did it without top 5 recruiting classes. The Huskers beat people with amazing execution and great coaching. None of which Nebraska has now.

Frost is a massive disappointment- he is clearly in over his head and likely won’t survive this season.

If they could recruit and instill an ounce of discipline (and I’m sure they could) then yes. It took Osborne years to pull it off and go on an epic run. It wouldn’t be easy but those 2 could absolutely pull it off.
