Rep. Tim Walberg and Sen. Jon Husted are introducing a bill that limits the amount of international athletes on a college sports roster to 20%. The bill is called ‘‘Training and Education for American Members in University Sports and Athletics Act.” Or… the TEAM USA Act.

The elections are rigged but the best I can get you is 20% foreigners in college sports.

Maybe just trying to get their foot in the door. Setting a precedent that Congress has already addressed college sports so they can take a bigger bite later?

God that had to smell awful.

So if a basketball roster can generally have up to 15 players, teams can have 3 EuroPros?

Who in the hell (beside Illinois) generally has 4 or more in their program as of now?

I don't really understand what this is accomplishing. IMO it should be zero.

if scholarships are funded by non taxpayer money and federal/state aid than they can do whatever they want imo.

Non-revenue sports being funded by taxpayers giving out their scholarships or receiving anything tied to federal or state aid to international players doesn't seem "right"

It may not be the ideal situation to Americanize them to become Texas fans, but at least they are being Americanized!

It does matter. Scholarship money that could be helping american kids that is going to foreigners is not a good thing for Americans.

Maybe.

But we are talking about diversity, here.

I don’t see any diversity at all, here.

This is what I was thinking. Outside of basketball the big three don't play many international guys at all and even basketball will easily be under 20%

Looks like Pleta (Germany), Rinaldo-Komlan (France), and Toure (France).

Good call though, I didn't realize they had signed that many.

Guess they've gotta make up for Joshua Jefferson.
