If a DC makes $3 million and a HC is getting a guaranteed $75 million, its getting out of control. Start dividing all this money to players too

Would we then be able to buy your good players from you also

So is this the new angle.
LSU wouldn't pay him because it's not fair to the players?
I like it..smooth white knighting.

Won't happen. The coaches pay taxes on that income, do players want to pay taxes on that income + cost of living stipend?

LSU has the most expensive coaching staff in the country?
Just Joe swinging his dick.
A&M then hires the best coach from that staff:

Agreed.
Also, I think there will be a balance in some of these insane salaries soon.
I do not know how long huge salaries and huge buyouts will be sustainable. I would expect one of those two must give, because let's face it, paying that much you expect wins or the ability to hire someone else for the job.
Not sure when we hit that tipping point, but it cannot be that far off.

Or cut the salaries , get coaches from the PE Dept and field a team of regular students every Saturday.

Can’t pay players bc football is the only money sport. Basketball makes money at a small fraction of programs. Baseball almost never does.
What do you do with the rest of them? T&F? Volleyball?
It would kill every non revenue sport.

I guess I missed where an education and academic support that would cost a regular student upwards of $100,000, all kinds of opportunities not available to normal students, and an additional stipend was "making nothing".
Let's make it really fair. No athletic scholarships at all and coaches make what the university pays academic department heads.

Didn't you pay attention to UF's season? Players got plenty, apparently.

Auburn just got bent over a barrel by the best agent in the business and an average head coach who basically held Auburn hostage until they retained a 7yr/$49mm guaranteed contract upon threat of him bolting to freaking Arkansas. Arkansas, are you kidding me?
As long as college administrations are willing to throw ridiculous $$ to get a chance to win ball games, these contracts will continue to flow.

I would love for the players to become like self-employed subcontractor types. They could get a bill from the university every time they get their ankles taped or have it applied as income, for equipment rental, on site medical personnel etc. They could deal with the IRS and having to claim all the benefits as income, and all sorts of stuff.
Let that happen. They'd be so high up in the income ranks they'd be subject to the AMT and they'd all shite their pants and beg to go back to the way things were.
