The rich are getting richer now. News flash Mark Zuckerberg gets paid far more than the programmer that works for FB. In any industry you're only as well paid as your value and skill set. The back up QB at Wisconsin is not as valuable as Jalen hurts. Where as Jalen Maybe worth $500K a yr that QB is worth $50k. That's the free market at work.

Players get paid. They get scholarships, and they also get money under the table.

When you can tell me what the going market rate is for the backup long snapper on an 85-man roster for the University of Massachusetts, I'll tell you they should be paid.

I can't help stupid. I had a link from the ncaa.

God,for the freakin 4th time,I'm talking P5 SCHOOLS and ATHLETES ONLY.WTf Is so difficult to comprehend about this? The FB number wasn't an estimate it was NCAA limit
X the number of P5 schools. You could probably add another 100 for medical hardships but those numbers aren't available. Lord, speaking of fixing stupid.

The reason I estimated on the overall is because DIFFERENT SCHOOLS HAVE DIFFERENT NUMBERS BASED ON TITLE
IX. All P5 schools have 85 FB,13 Basketball,11 Baseball
and then you can add more to that based on the sport (Golf,Tennis,Swimming,Hocky Wrestling etc) and in SOME
cases double it according to title IX (male to female ratio at each school).Georgia for example has more than 250 scholarship athletes because they have a higher female to male ratio.Schools
like Wake Forest,GT,Kansas State and Boston College probably have a number below 250 because they have a higher male to female ratio. There is no website I could find that gives exact scholarship nmembers for P5 schools only. You can even move those numbers up to 300
for arguments sake.

Once again, any extra compensation discussed is for P5 athletes only. The money being brought in by P5 CFB TV AND Playoff revenue has doubled and in some cases tripled the last 10 years. For example, each ACC school made almost $6.3 million JUST off the bowl and playoff payout alone (this year)

Can anyone here present a reasonable justification for the fact that a player is only guaranteed school for one year, but a player can not leave to go to another school after the one year contract is completed, but the School can drop said player without cause if they want to?

Really? Everybody getting rich off these kids. Billions of dollars nationally, maybe more, And they get a chance at a degree?, a small chance at turning pro. Practice and travel requirements that no regular student would ever consent to, injuries, concussions, et al.
The coaches that swear to them and their families they will be there for 4 years jump ship at the drop of a hat, but the athletes must waive a year of eligibility should they want to leave.

They should be paid and we should all be ashamed that they aren’t. The cost of a college degree they receive is like tipping a waitress 1 penny on a million dollar meal.

Not really because the playoff and bowl payout IS divided up among a P5 and non P5 designation.

P5 and non P5 payouts

Yea,eventually they'll have to make the split officail.
Won't be too difficult because P5 schools pretty much subsidize the non P5 schools anyway and they wouldn't
be able to afford the extra compensation or put up a fight about P5 schools doing it.

But title ix forces this discussion to spread further than football.

God you're dense...title IX has always been a part of this discussion
