That's a great idea....
If you hate college football and want to kill it.

I guess I missed where an education and academic support that would cost a regular student upwards of $100,000, all kinds of opportunities not available to normal students, and an additional stipend was "making nothing".
Too much common sense and intelligence in this post. Will be wasted on most. And certainly will be wasted on OP.

Coaching buyouts need to be done away with. But that's just weakness on the part of AD's and University Presidents.

I just read a thread started by an LSU fan that insinuated that his players are NOT being paid

How is that a liberal or conservative thing? Coaches win the jackpot annually while the players get their brains bashed in in exchange for a shot at maybe going pro, or a career as a permanently fricking punch drunk insurance salesman if they don't?
There's a board for your political horseshite. Take it over there.

One of the loons escaped from the basement.
Told lsu they needed to get a new lock for that door, but they were too poor.

ETA: Tyrone Prothro has a degree. He's worked at Regions, he's been an account manager at Coca-Cola. He's worked at a car dealership. He's been working at Wagner's in Tuscaloosa.
Last I heard, he's trying to break into high school coaching. I hope to frick he does. I hope this game finally gives back a fraction of what he sacrificed to it.
I watched his career end live, in living color. His story breaks my fricking heart.

The players should get to transfer without a one year waiting "penalty" period. If the SEC coaches are jumping around then the players should have that right. Remember it is only a one year scholarship. If they can be "processed" after one year then they should be able to go somewhere else.

Agreed. Either mandate 4 year scholarships or allow free transfers

Sports is one of the few galvanizing phenomena that cuts across such a vast swath of sociopolitical lines.
And people among us want to frick that up

Can’t pay players bc football is the only money sport. Basketball makes money at a small fraction of programs. Baseball almost never does.
What do you do with the rest of them? T&F? Volleyball?
It would kill every non revenue sport.

Well, for some people politics is EVERYTHING and must be injected in to EVERYTHING.

Just what we need. College football players going on strike for more money. It would happen, too.

frick no, GTF out of here with this shite.
Coaches are way over paid.
But players get a free ride to a $50,000 or more education, free room and board.
This is college, deal with it.
