Best case scenario they go 3-0 vs Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and MSU. Even a down year for Alabama they ought to roll to end the conference season 3-1

I predict 2-2 but possible for 1-3 without a signature win in Freeze's first year

That remains to be seen. But Auburn was always predicted to be at the bottom of the west this year.

As opposed to whom?

Harshin dragged Auburn's name in the mud just because he didn't operate in good faith and give his due diligence to make sure he was successful. Freeze was the best we could do.

They just don’t have a QB, Freeze is a good coach, just needs to recruit a QB.

They need some receivers and a running back too. Their D is good.

Our recruiting is the best it’s been in a decade. I’m not worried yet.

I am perturbed that we refuse to adjust for our offensive skill set. I think we could be more dangerous utilizing Ashford as a runner.

But maybe Freeze is running the offense just to show recruits how they could save the day.

Still though, as bad as we are, we lost by a touchdown to Georgia and a touchdown to Ole Miss. I’d love to win more games, but with one of the worst rosters in the SEC, multiple years of destroying the Auburn program, and a first year head coach, we can’t expect too much yet.

Yeah, because all coaches should be judged by their year 1 performance after taking over a bag of shite.

Unfortunately this team was in really bad shape from a roster standpoint when Freeze took over - thanks to the dumpster fire that was Harsin. I believe most reasonable Auburn people felt it would take a couple of recruiting Cycles to to get back to being competitive again.

So far this season, Auburn has won the games I thought they would win, they've lost the games I thought they would lose... I also felt them making a bowl game would be considered a successful season for where this program is right now. Considering the four games they have ahead of them, if they can win three of them they will be Bowl eligible.

Can that be done? I guess we all shall see

He will get things turned around soon. Good hire for Auburn.

Freeze took over a roster mess left behind by the previous two staffs. Some of it is their power booster’s fault. Auburn couldn’t recruit the last two cycles with Malzahn because the worst kept secret in the SEC is nobody was happy with their president and interim AD panic signing Malzahn to an extension. Similarly, Harsin came in with zero recruiting ties and the power boosters didn’t like the hire from the outset. The AD wanted to make his hire, so the boosters once again pulled back support.

Freeze is going to have to recruit like a mfer to rebuild this roster to upper-end SEC quality.

Yes, and I’ve been saying it was a terrible idea since the moment his name ever came up in relation to Auburn

He’s better than Harsin, but really only a technicality bc Harsin literally didn’t try at all and might be the only CFB coach more unlikeable than Freeze

"They" meaning the conference

"Got" meaning (the conference) pummeled Auburn to be fighting for a bowl bid at the end of the season

With how bad the roster was coming in, I don’t see Freeze as a mistake based upon what I have seen so far.

Would it be better if they were more functional on offense, sure. But as others have pointed out he just doesn’t have the horses for anything.

Recruiting is trending up and getting a QB and a few skill position players in the portal could completely transform next seasons offense.

No. Good lord people react too quick. He was left a shite situation and it’s going to take time to rebuild.

I hope it is a bad hire. But this season provides little to no probative value to the question. In fact, I think the fact that Auburn has only been blown out once, despite having almost zero ability to pass the ball would indicate that Freeze is making progress.

I hope I’m wrong though because frick auburn.

This is my take too after watching the game. Let Freeze get some decent players on offense and he’ll be a problem

Auburn will be fine. They are suffering because of Harsin's screw ups. Freeze knows what he is doing and I expect Auburn to hit portal and NIL hard in off season to build roster.

Anyone who believes Auburn messed up by hiring Hugh Freeze 7 games into his first season knows nothing about college football.. Minus the LSU game Auburn has been very competitive and had a chance to win every other game.. Doing so with little talent that was left when he took the job, and a couple players he was able to pick up in the transfer portal. Being a Bama fan Freeze is the one coach that I didn't want Auburn to hire.. That is because when he was at Ole Miss he had Saban's number beating him 2 years in a row. If you don't remember Saban's first year at Alabama the Tide was 7-6, you can't change a bad program overnight.
