No. This is stupid. Now, the fans may hamper his ability to build the program but that's going to happen no matter who is hired.

You guys still paying Dubose, Fran, Shula, Price, Perkins, Curry, Kines?

quote:

Let's walk through this:

Dubose was fired for cause, no buyout.
Franchione quit and took the TAMU job, no buyout.
Shula had a $4M buyout, as far as I can tell.
Price was fired for cause, no buyout.
Perkins quit and took a job with the Tampa Bay Bucs, no buyout.
Curry quit and took the UK job, no buyout.
Kines was an interim head coach after Shula's firing, no buyout.

ETA: Now do Auburn.

ETA2: Just to complete the circle: Stallings resigned, no buyout.

So that's a total of $4M in buyouts paid by Bama since Bear Bryant, who we all know died almost immediately after retiring as head coach. Are you sure you want to play the comparison game here?

Damn. Sorry to have missed this earlier today, but…

A 9 win/season program?

Cmon man. Dude didn’t recruit worth a damn, boosters couldn’t stand him, players couldn’t stand him, the only thing he managed to do right was get caught with Clesi.

No. They’re already recruiting at a much higher level than they did with the last guy. The best they could’ve hoped for this season is 6-8 wins regardless of who the coach was

This weekend will go a long way towards determining how Freeze’s career at Auburn goes. 4–4 is a lot better than 3–5. An opportunity to win gives a lot of hope that things are on the right track. A 5th straight loss would be demoralizing.

I think Hugh Freeze is good coach, but also has baggage, and wouldn’t put past him to cheat again, but Auburn could care less about that. That program has lived in NCAA penalties

Firing Brian Harsin was a no brainer. I’ll say that much.

They need some receivers and a running back too. Their D is good.

Our RBs are not a contribution to the problem.
They are the only offensive reason we have won a game this year.

The Barn should accept Miss St status and be happy.

No. He inherited a shitty team. I expect him to do well at Auburn. Unfortunately…

Freeze's tenure will be very Malzahn like until they run him off in a few years. He isn't all that.

So a national championship runner up and a few SEC championship game appearances with at least one conference championship win? Also upset Bama and UGA a few times… Thats not too bad for Auburn.

2023 - 1993 = 30

Does AU Football have some baggage in its history?...well sure....no one is denying that

But it's been 30 years...I wouldn't exactly call that "lived in NCAA Penalties"

He also inherited an easy schedule in year 1. 7-5 should be the floor at this point (i.e. 6-6 would suck with this schedule) and that is considering his only remaining loss is to Alabama. State, Vandy and Arkansas are all down even for their standards and the 4 non conference games are weak.

Iron bowl aside, they have those three and New Mexico State. That's an incredibly easy four game stretch and there aren't exactly any coach of the year nominees on those teams. That's a minimum of 3 wins.

But Freeze has always been known to play WAY above his head against tougher opponents and then completely shite the bed against lesser.
