so you think top players from the south would go play in Cali.............and their family and friends wouldn't see them play a down on tv for at least three years?

DO you really think Cali will be the only one? Let's take Oregon. That's NIKE's baby.

There will be other states. AND NO Espn is not going to give up one of the most populated states in the nation on COLLEGE GAME day.

I don't think you understand how the process works.

First, Tua had to make the team, get his shot in the big game, win the championship, THEN his likeness was worth something.

Who the frick would pay for Tua's autograph right out of high school? Maybe you??? Who would pay for it if he hadn't had the opportunity to showcase himself on the big stage?

It's you not understanding how this will work. You are narrow in thinking.

What's to keep the top RB who has HIRED an agent(have you never paid attention to sports agents?)demanding "x" dollars? Nothing.

All it takes is the booster to purchase 1 million in shirts with the kids photo on it.

If the kid is a bust... oh well, If he is good... they can sell the shirts.

That's how much sense this bullshite makes.

He hired an agent, so he can't fricking play in the NCAA. He can't play for championships. He's not on TV.

But yeah, some booster is gonna print a million shirts.

And oh, by the way...you just mentioned "booster", so now you've brought Title IX into then picture.

You clearly have no clue.

This is a nothingburger. Colleges are voluntarily members of the NCAA. If they are members they have to voluntarily comply or leave.

Cali law can't do shite about it. There isn't even any state laws preventing athletes from getting paid.

You are a moron if you think ESPN, or anybody else, will pay big bucks to show USC playing San Diego St..

Hell, the new summer pro football league lasted less than a month because they couldn't get a tv deal...........but Cali. schools, playing each other in college sports, will get a deal?

There are a lot of cable providers who have yet to pick up the ACC network..............and these are cable providers in the south.

Some of us are old enough to have gone to World Football League games in Birmingham.

Who the frick were they getting to play against and show out so they could be invited to those combines?

Sweet Jesus..

Look. It's a LARGE enough market on it's on. And When they start an all out bid on the top players in the nation, EVERYBODY will be watching them.

There is a reason why people watch the SEC. Quality of the games. When that talent bolts for the money, our quality drops.

When other LIBERAL (yep... I said it)states see it, they will jump on board.

And BAMA is NOT going to be able to just use "but we are Bama". Because little Johnny is going to make 500K and still go pro.

You are fooling yourself if you think that this does not lead to a whole new way of recruiting nation wide.

Would be fine if California was declared ineligible from everything .... from life.

Jesus fricking Christ.

I was just reading a little history about the WFL today. Go back and look at all the NFL players they signed. Look at how many actually jumped ship. Look at those "new markets" that were created.

You're embarrassing yourself.

No.. I think the state gov will do what it always does.. Shop a judge and YES.... the State of Cali WILL sue.

This is collegiate sports we are talking about.

Actually we are now talking about a 66-0 100% INVESTED into allowing this to happen and they are not going to let it go nor allow it to hurt their universities without a fight.

You can't allow athletes to make money on their likeness.

Well... tell that to cali.

I agree with you, but either play by the rules or play the game.

quote:

If you do, schools will be spending millions upon millions buying recruits with the promise of monetary gain for the student-athletes..........under the table.

And you think the NCAA won't fall? When a few top recruits turn down millions to go to UGA, reporters are going to be all over that.

It will not take but 1 major story to break for the NCAA to cave.

Let me explain something about "liberals" that even the most politically clueless frick can understand:

They are going to do absolutely zero...nothing, nada, zilch...that will allow male university athletes to make hundreds of thousands of dollars while giving their female athletes virtually nothing.

If you can't grasp that, then you don't know shite about either college athletics or American politics.

A wise man knows when to give up a losing argument.

1- they could be flown with no penalty.

2- They will be on TV. It's rather dumb to think ESPN will give up a Market share the size of Cali.

It's going to be real funny when athletes flock to California to make money, but then only a handful make anything meaningful, only to have California and the federal government tax the hell out of their paycheck. Tunes might change then.

So who will govern collegiate sports if the NCAA falls? Every pro sport, high school sport, little league sport has a governing body............but collegiate athletics won't?

Seriously, put some thought into this.

Yes I did. Again. COURT.. Again, Money, and YES... I hope the courts rule in the NCAA's favor, but they won't.
