Cali knows that college footballs stronghold is the south.

This is a direct attack on our way of life

The same place they go now........the SEC. Who is going to go where your games won't be televised? Most kids dream of playing in the NFL.

Why won't the games be televised? Who said?

Players will go where the money is more often than not.

True. But, they don't realize the consequences of their actions because they are idiots. This will do the exact opposite.

Who is going to give a national tv deal to a conf. that only plays within the State? That is as regional a market as you will ever find.

That's what they already have.

The Pac 12 has a tv deal.....not Cali. schools. If the Cali. schools break away from the NCAA, there will be very little interest in what they do.

So no change?

A Lot of change in that other states will follow suit. That set's the stage for Lawsuits.

Let's say the west coast follows suit. They all leave the NCAA and open bid for players happen.

Who does that hurt? Think it through.

Cali games may be televised, but if the Cali teams are playing only each other, there will be little to no interest nationally and they will not likely draw prime time audiences since they won’t be in the national championship hunt and will be essentially irrelevant to college football fans generally. And there seems to be an assumption that players, at least many of the good ones aren’t getting paid already, something that many suspect isn’t a valid assumption.

Seriously? Is that where you think it will end???

This is going to court soon and now tell me if you think the US Court system has any power over the NCAA.

You think Cali is just going to allow their colleges to NOT play in playoffs or bowl games?

They will sue and then what?

Name it. What's the name of that conference, and who plays in it?

The NCAA will spend billions to keep it the way it is. Do you think Cali. schools will be willing to spend that much?

This is collegiate sports we are talking about. You can't allow athletes to make money on their likeness. If you do, schools will be spending millions upon millions buying recruits with the promise of monetary gain for the student-athletes..........under the table.

Right.

Technically, the players can make all the money they want off their likeness already. The NCAA will just not let them be eligible if they do.

I don't think you understand how the process works.

First, Tua had to make the team, get his shot in the big game, win the championship, THEN his likeness was worth something.

Who the frick would pay for Tua's autograph right out of high school? Maybe you??? Who would pay for it if he hadn't had the opportunity to showcase himself on the big stage?

It's you not understanding how this will work. You are narrow in thinking.

What's to keep the top RB who has HIRED an agent(have you never paid attention to sports agents?)demanding "x" dollars? Nothing.

All it takes is the booster to purchase 1 million in shirts with the kids photo on it.

If the kid is a bust... oh well, If he is good... they can sell the shirts.

When it's demonstrated how vastly inequitable the benefits would be for women as opposed to men, no federal court will come within 100 miles of it.

Oh so a new market won't be created?

Wait.. the top players are suddenly not going to be invited to combines or be scouted simply because they are NOT on "ncaa TV"?

It passed the lower chamber. It has not become law.

If it does, all it means is that college sports ceases to exist in California.
