Looks like the plan now is to save the other 3 for the portal. I know we'll be targeting a TE and DL in the portal, maybe WR gets the 3rd spot.

on 12/18/20 at 11:18 pm to ABearsFanNMSI'm reluctant to get too excited about the Trevin Wallace thing. Seems like something we'd get our hopes up over and he winds up at Auburn no matter who they hire. Why so much smoke over him being interested in us? Haven't seen this anywhere else.

I love his tape because he has the speed we need at LBer. I think Sango and Henry will come back and with another year of being on this defense and some new blood on the DL they will be much better. But we need to add LBs every year or we run the risk of being like a Fresus Defense. So I guess that is why I am hoping he flips.

Offers from Alabama, etc. He was all the rage during the summer then as somebody else put it, "his recruitment died out" a bit. 3-star but really big kid.

How is the free year of eligibility for seniors going to work? For the ones who come back for an extra year, do those scholarships count against your limit? Wondering how it affects your recruiting if you have a program where a bunch of seniors unexpectedly decide to come back

We need balanced classes too. Freeze didn't do that. We skip out on lb this year (or only rely on converted safeties) and we are desperate for one next year and there are no guarantees what happens in recruiting. Freeze would land classes lacking in lb and then be out in front for a five star the next year only to have him pick somewhere else late and we go w/ plan b or even c. You also have to consider the fact that some guys just aren't going to pan out.

This is the biggest issue with Fresus. He consistently went after the big fish and when he shifted wouldn’t even get plan B but rather C-

This happens every year for us. We get involved early with a high ranked recruit from out of state and seem to lead until the end only for him to sign with a bigger school. Nothing new.

Maybe he’s tired of the NFL and we can match or pay him more than the half million he’s making at Detroit? IDK if they are willing to drop that for a DL coach but maybe it’s worth it for a lock down recruiting guy that can help land a top 10 class.

The one thing going for us is he knows who is boss (DC) would be. At LSU he cannot/shouldn't take the job until they hire a DC

Lane has grown up in the coaching world and has Monte as his consultant. I bet Lane didn’t make a move without having some plans in place. Personally think these factors bodes well for Ole Miss.
