Compared to one of the most storied programs in college football.
Shows just what an anomaly he was.

That's, far and away, the most impressive stat I've ever seen regarding an individual football accomplishment, regardless of ANY school affiliation!.....DAMN!...it's Oklahoma!!!

It's Alabama and the 15 dwarfs..

[insert elephant pic carrying the entire SEC on his shoulders]

eta: it would be interesting to see how Bear compares to these numbers..

Six natties but no playoff stats of course and much fewer draft picks. He tended to win with guys who weren't necessarily NFL material.

Makes sense.. now that he is retired, I am curious if he will ever talk about the Texas opportunity.. was he close to accepting the job? if so, how close?

There are people on the Texas side adamant that he was coming.. and then Mack threw a hissy fit about all of it which caused Saban to say.. yeah, no thanks.. but I have no idea if any of that is true or not.. It would just be interesting to hear his version of the story..

He won 5 at Bama (last one being 2017) and 1 at LSU. Still very impressive, just not sure where they got 7 from.

Losing that SEC CG to Florida in 2008 and then reeling off 8 or whatever in a row...

2020 happened. I saw Ed O almost murder Pelini on the sideline during the Alabama game.

2009 will always be my favorite season of the run. A talented, pissed off team that refused to lose and wanted the rematch with Florida.

That is impressive but it could be a lot more tilted in Saban's favor because Saban was that dominant. Miracles and big comebacks by Auburn temporarily cured Bama fatigue for a couple seasons. Ohio State and Oklahoma did us a solid as well.

Everyone mentioned take a bow.

Here to add, OU is only one of the most storied programs in college football because they cheated in recruiting for decades, especially during the 70s and 80s. Once the fields started leveling out, they began to regress. There is little talent in Oklahoma high schools. Trust me, I live here.

That first round draft pick stat is pretty mind blowing. Wow.
