This does not seem like it belongs in this forum.

But just remember, they usually stay away from humans. Pretty much every lake or rivers in Florida has Alligators..they are not aggressive unless you are threatening them. Crocodiles are very aggressive though, as long as it not the latter you are fine.

Alligators are pretty far up into north carolina now, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to virginia soon.

We know their range extended to Chesapeake Bay. Virginia has some spots that would make really good gator territory.

I saw a 4 footer crossing a levee
road just outside of Jonestown, MS about 15 years ago. They
don’t get very big that far north.

I saw one in Old Town lake not far from Elaine that was laying on a log.

It was just a few feet from my boat and I estimated at six feet long.

It was full of gators until some idiot decided to kill them.

The Arkansas game and fish commission says about 3,000 are in Arkansas.

They are a lot more than that in Arkansas.

They found a huge one close to Tichenor and had it lifted by a forklift. It was about 14 feet long.

Weird topic to see, but yes, there are alligators in the lake.
Even more weird is that there are "Boogers" in that area of Northern Mississippi. (Boogers = Mississippi name for Bigfoot/Sasquatch) There have been Sightings and Eyewitness reports. My grandparents owned a large farm and forested acreage south of Meridian out in the country. They (Boogers) used to come onto the property late at night and take Sweet Feed (Mixture of ground up corn and molasses) from the Barn. "Country People" from the South know all about "Boogers."

I get it's rare, but a gator killed a chick over the weekend, down near Orlando.

I am very glad the nasty beasts are not in Tennessee. You can have them. Swim at your own risk.

Oklahoma also has a Sardis Lake. It also has a Lake Eufala like Alabama.

The Choctaws and Chickasaws used the same names for those lakes in Oklahoma as they did back in their traditional home lands of Alabama and Mississippi.

Cool story but Sardis is named after an ancient city in Turkey.

I didn't know Sardis had them, thought it got too cold in the Winter.

Ross Barnett Rez has a shite load though in Madison/Jackson.

When I lived in Little Rock I thought seeing a gator was a big deal.

I live in Apalachicola, FL now and don’t even notice them. All water in FL either has sharks, gators or both.

Black bears are way worse and literally as thick as squirrels,

The Army Core of Engineers put them in all the streams / rivers leading to the lakes in North MS back in the 50s or 60s as a way to control the beaver population.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife transplanted about 50 from Louisiana to Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in 1979. That is how north Alabama got alligators. There are supposed to be some 10-12’ gators in Wheeler now.

The two biggest gators I have ever seen was a in Lake Eufaula (Alabama) and the Chattahoochee River. We used to ski in the hooch after getting off work...not one of my prouder moments. When they would release the dam it made for interesting skiing dodging all of the wood, junk, and debris.

Those pictures of alligators that were frozen in NC lakes in the ice but were alright after they thawed out a few days later was pretty crazy.

There are vastly more scary crocodilians out there (Nile, Ganges, and Saltwater crocodiles) but in terms of being a sheer survivalist not much beats an American Alligator.

There are gators around Memphis. Look it up.

I would think they would slowly work up the Mississippi River.
