If we have ok, tx, tamu, mizzou, LSU, Miss state, om, us, on the West....

Would this not aid our recruiting in some form. Everyone is going to want to play in the SEC, the Super Conference right?

So those players in TX, OK, etc that arent at Texas, TAMU, OK... would not seek Baylor, Tech, OK State over us.

and really how could it be any worse than it already is?

It would help Arkansas in Texas as it hurts Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech. No one wants those schools as they would bring nothing to an SEC super conference. It will hurt the Aggies as well.

I would rather play Texas and Oklahoma each year because they are much more hatable and beatable than the Bama schools. The rivalries with both would bring big tv ratings and have older fans get excited again and thus renew tickets.

Every conference that Texas has been in has died. Whats the common denominator?

Plus it would kill dead our Texas and Oklahoma recruiting. TAMU joining damn near killed it...this would just finish it off.

However....IF (big if) the SEC went to a pod based system of 4 groups of 4 teams and put us with LSU/MSU/OM Id be all for that.

Of course what we all know would happen is we would get stuck with TAMU/TX/OU and would never even get out of our division, much less have a chance at winning the conference.

The more I think about it, the more I think this will be the worse possible scenario for Arkansas.

It would make us more competitive in Texas as the little Texas schools can no longer be competitive in recruiting. They were hurting Arkansas recruiting in Texas more than the aggies as they were starting to get some good players.

Texas won't kill the SEC as it isn't a Texas conference.

We have a lot better chance of beating Texas and Oklahoma as I can see Arkansas getting fired up and pulling off upsets. We won't be dominated like what Bama is doing to us.

This. We fricked up on two fronts allowing A&M in. One is that it absolutely boosted A&M’s recruiting to a level where we’ll always struggle to beat them like we did in the SWC. Two is that is inadvertently allowed Baylor and TCU to suddenly be in a position where they could actually win the Big 12 which boosted their recruiting and profile to a level where they can and do beat us out for Texas recruits at times.

The first thing was obvious but I don’t think anyone saw the Baylor and TCU thing coming out of A&M leaving. Killing off the Big 12 would elevate us back above them in the Texas pecking order again.

We've been the worst football program in the SEC for a decade now. Any and all change is good. NIL is good. Conference expansion is good. New transfer rules are good.

This hurts the mid tier Big 12 teams the most. It looks like we are moving to a power 4 conference. It'll be interesting to see who gets scooped up by the Big 10 and Pac 12. West Virginia to the ACC is a no brainer.

A&M takes a big step back as they return to little bro status. I think it actually hurts OU too. They don't typically have the roster depth to survive an SEC schedule. They could go the way of Tenner and Neb. Texas is will do fine when they get their shite together. Too much resources to continue to suck.

I really don't see any negatives for us. We already have the toughest schedule in the nation. Winning 4-5 recruiting battle a year for the low 4 star/high 3 star Texas recruits that UT doesn't want would do wonders for our roster.

I honestly don't care about football anymore. I expect to suck. The SEC office will continue to protect Bama. They'll do the same for the wHorns and Sooners. Our Texas recruiting has sucked for a while. This won't really change anything from a recruiting standpoint.

Texas and Oklahoma will pull some power away from the Bama schools but not enough to be the old SWC or the Big 12. It will be very difficult for the SEC office to protect all these powers.

Our Texas recruiting will get better knowing that TCU, Tech and Baylor will struggle to join any major conference and the SEC certainly doesn't need them. This will slowly help Arkansas climb the ladder in the pecking order in Texas.

Seems like everyone is in agreement. Helps us in Texas recruiting and hopefully means we don’t have to play bama every year. I’m all for it

It's better for the fans. Closer road games. We get a historical rival in Texas. Maybe we can get rid of that gay battle line trophy

I think the SEC is big enough and hard enough as it is. I think it'll hurt Aggy more than us. I also don't think Texas will really do it unless they can accept playing 2nd fiddle to Alabama.

The same with Oklahoma. I'm tired of losing to Bama 10 plus years in a row. At least with Texas and Oklahoma, we can pull off some upsets and the tv ratings, hype and trash talking would be bigger than any SEC games we played.

Besides Ole Miss, I hate them both worst than the rest of the SEC and I can't wait for Arkansas knock them down a couple of notches.

Those two games itself would get me interested in buying season tickets.

I think it's great for us. Hurts all of the Texas schools. Gives us an ACTUAL rivalry game again and probably pushes Bama/Auburn to the east or at least out of our pod. For anyone thinking "it will hurt our Texas recruiting!" go look at our class this year and count the guys from Texas.

Plus we get another regional rival in OK. Where it might hurt us is in OK recruiting but since they already poached our #2 receiver I'm gonna say we were already playing second fiddle there

Last expansion was a disaster for us because it legitimized two regional schools. This one will work in our favor.

Yeah it’d bring more interest but Texas and OU would beat us most of the time, so, still a net loss

frick it.

Can it honestly get any worse than its been?

We don't even deserve an opinion on the matter when it comes to football.

Basketball and Baseball will be fine.

Maybe but it would be heated games with both schools to the point that it could ruin a good year for them. Both aren't Bama level coaching and talent. They won't dominate the series like for example that Oklahoma has done to Okie state for so many years.

Besides, the west part of the SEC is tough enough that both could lose 2-4 games a year and yet still make a playoff.

True, I would love to play them both in basketball and baseball every year, especially basketball

It honestly helps expand our basketball recruiting.

Absolutely no player will want to play in the Big 12 over the SEC if they have to choose, especially Texas kids.

This is actually a pretty common misconception, but it isn't really true. A&M has taken recruits away from Texas and OU that they were normally losing when they were in the Big 12, but we've done about the same recruiting Texas as we did before they joined. We haven't done very well in Texas since leaving the SWC honestly. Even Ole Miss somehow has done better since 2008.
