We haven’t always been but we are now.
Point being that even during our worst stretch of football in history, wrapping up a season in which we won an SEC game for the first time in 17 tries, under a drunken coach that was falling asleep during meetings, we were still good enough to absolutely thrash Texas.

You're terrified of a team that just lost to the real Kansas. It's just not a good look.

Really feeling no different, maybe a little bit better about things. In a way, it opens Texas back up a little more for Arkansas going forward. All of the talent that was spread amongst Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Houston, etc. is now back on the table for Arkansas like it was back in the SWC days.

I have always thought/hoped that Arkansas and Oklahoma would have a series and now that is likely to happen.

I think the divisions will be broken into pods and I think we will fall into something like...Ark, Mizz, OU, TN or something along those lines.

I especially look forward to the baseball, basketball alignment.

Now that is an interesting POD, but I doubt we end up in a pod with TN.

Big part of my excitement for this. Both are consistently good in basketball and we get to add ANOTHER blue blood in baseball with Texas.

It’s true, I was being foolish. rockiee was right earlier, I was in too deep on moving to the Big 12 and I let my pride get in the way.

After taking a step back, I think it will be really cool for Texas and OU to join. Gives us a regional rival that’s better than Mizzou and a historic rival in Texas. I’m looking forward to it now.

Football wise...not much changes. Best case scenario for Arkansas is that the playoff expands to 12 teams and we can actually get in the hunt for that. At least with coaches not named Bert or Chad.

I am more excited about the basketball and baseball aspects of this expansion. Texas and Oklahoma both have decent history and will add enough to give the league instant respect around the nation.

Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama are a damn fine core of basketball programs.

Baseball only gets tougher...but it isnt like Arkansas has had much trouble in the regular season lately.

I look forward to all sports with these additions.

If Texas is so talented each year then no way in hell they would lose to Kansas. They are not as good as the hype says they are.

Since 1960 which is around the era that modern college football began, Arkansas is around 13-24 in that time frame against Texas. Arkansas had many close losses to Texas. The reason that the series is lopsided is because before the Frank Broyles era, Arkansas didn't give a damn a bout football as Texas was already a powerhouse. The state of Arkansas was more into cardinal baseball than anything else.

If that is the case then how did Clemson get so good being so mediocre for so long? Would Alabama be as good as they are without Saban? Why did Tennessee fall off a cliff? Why has Texas been so mediocre lately? Why couldn't USC keep dominating after Pete Carroll left?

Now you're just misconstruing what I said

I specifically said "recruiting ranges" are determined by the school, not overall success. Alabama's recruiting range includes the #1 overall ranking, and Saban is good enough to get that plus have excellent scouting + development.

Recruiting range is the range where a school will recruit, and where it falls on any given year is determined by the coach. For example, I would say our recruiting range is 15ish - 35ish. A top notch recruiter could get us to 15, but will not get us past that. Likewise, a shite recruiter could get classes around 35.

Nowhere did I mention other coaching attributes.

Alabama is recruiting 25 plus states in the nation with Saban. They are a national brand. Arkansas currently isn't a national brand and recruit just the regional area. Before Saban they weren't recruiting as many states because the prestige was lackluster.

Schools don't have recruiting ranges in any sport. You are only limited by how many limitations are put on oneself. Alabama is successfully because they don't make excuses and they will win at all costs. Arkansas is the opposite and they put itself down, make excuses and thus why we endured the worst stretch of football since the 50s.

Nothing stays the same and nothing lasts forever. Being pessimistic doesn't solve any issues and gives off an inferior complex which makes a school look bad. No team is ever unbeaten and they are human as well.

If Arkansas ever wants to be a winner then they need to drop this loser bullshite attitude and start kicking arse!

I say frick it bring em in. We have sucked for what seems like forever. Not like it can get any fricking worse. Hell I'll rub one out if we can get God damned Bama off the schedule. Tired of losing by 45 points to them every damned year. Give me an LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, State pod please.

The problem is Arkansas has no pull in this conference which means we will get stuck with Bama as a cross rival opponent.

I could see the two west pods all plying each other. Thats 7 games. Then add one team from each East on rotation.
