Well in this case they were going against a top 5 draft pick. Don’t think any hitting coach in the country would have helped last night. As much as people have talked about us being a complete team, I think we’d be better off with two front-line starters like LSU has instead of having a large quantity of BP arms. If your starter can eat 7 innings then your bullpen doesn’t really matter.

The early game seems to be getting more popular lately either way since it follows a lot of the Saturday morning CFB shows. Sucks for fans in person but not bad for the TV draw.

Can’t really argue with those numbers. As up and down as he is, a lot of our other pitchers have been inconsistent too so I think he’s earned some more opportunities. Maybe the SECT would be a good spot to see if we can rely on him going forward.

He was talking so much trash to the hog pen last weekend and dancing half the time I’m surprised he even had time to pay attention to the game. Dude is talented but definitely a showboat

Non sequitur, but he has coached two Cy Young winners. Jalen Beeks, Trevor Stephan and Ryne Stanek I believe are the only current ones but several more in AAA.
He does pitch guys like Kopps and McEntire a lot since they’re built to handle it (older with repeatable motions and not huge arms) but Arkansas actually has had one of the lowest pitch counts for their starters among SEC teams over the last few years. Even Hagen Smith very rarely went over 100 pitches.

Probably losing another pitcher for the season frustrates me just as much as losing the series. Always a chance we can get hot in the postseason regardless of the seed but can’t just replace pitching talent.

It’s kinda crazy how we’ve taken Friday starters from other teams as our Sunday starters the last two years yet still our starting pitching seems to never quite get over the hump

I really hope we don’t try to play Wagner off the ball again like early last year. He’s at his best facilitating and driving. But not sure you leave Acuff on the bench either.

After we went back to the McFadden-era uniforms it looked even weirder seeing Rocket Sanders in #5. I think at the very least we should have an unofficial rule against RBs wearing it unless you’re just a generational talent.
