Seems like a good eval by the staff. Cal is known for getting the cream of the crop but seems to have good luck with identifying the right guys hovering around the 40’s-50’s like Richmond too

No one is talking about athletic donations. It is taking money formerly used for academics and now using it for athletics without a corresponding makeup for academics

But I’m pretty sure athletics was donating that money to the administration before in the first place, now they just aren’t. So it never really even belonged to the academic side.

This. It’s the athletic department’s money is it not? They didn’t have to give anything to begin with like almost every other school. We’ll probably have to raise tuition to cover it but that’s just the reality of having a billion-dollar industry attached to your institution.

Athletics lets employees and students use their parking structures on campus even though they paid for it all too.
Blows my mind that Cal is tied with Pelphrey

Bruised it a couple games ago I think
Well he did those under BP too. I actually don’t mind it as a nice change of pace to everyone else saying all the players we got look amazing. Reality is probably somewhere in between
I don’t think he’d committed to us, just planned a visit. Bussell is the WVU OL that we signed.
I mean you could say the same thing about OU and Ole Miss taking players from Arkansas. We took Sorey and Singletary from UGA and it didn’t matter.
They probably don’t have any clue about the inner workings of athletics compliance or policies when it comes to this stuff I’d imagine

What was a first? We’ve lost to ASU in WBB before

Jacksonville State has some studs on offense I wouldn’t mind him bringing over too
I mean he averaged 5 YPC which isn’t too bad. Definitely seems like he didn’t show as much flash as he did against Tennessee and Mississippi State as a freshman though.
Don’t really have a choice now that we’re required to play a P4 team OOC
Think I read where Silverfield said he turned down UCLA and Oklahoma State FWIW

He was 2-1 against the SEC at Memphis FWIW, but of course he won’t get to play us anymore for one of those lol

This is the whole thing. We shouldn't be competing with other jobs that opened up with such a head start. Get your guy locked down.

Coaches aren’t going to agree to be “locked down” way before knowing what other jobs are going to come open though. We could have had an agreement in principle with Golesh or whomever since September but the second Auburn came open he probably would have switched it up anyway. It’s pointless.

Yeah he was also 0-3 against Silverfield who no one wanted so that’s a little concerning. I think people are banking on the upside, he has a great offense and is still young. Hopefully we can give him what he needs to attract a great DC.

Cal's adjustment was going from paying kids out of high school to paying kids from other colleges.

Idk why people act like Cal didn’t recruit the portal at UK though. Antonio Reeves, Tshibewe, Sahvir Wheeler, etc.

Dabo has still been getting top 15 classes for the most part too. But they have dropped about 10 spots over the past several years since he was recruiting at an elite level before that.

To be fair I doubt many teams we play this year end up only hitting one 3 pointer against us either. MSU didn’t play great, makes it even more frustrating.

Not a Big 10 guy at all but them adding Oregon and USC helped close the gap a lot. Them along with Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State is traditionally a really good top of the league before you even get to Wisconsin and the like.
