College and pro football will not happen he claims. Says you can't play until there's a vaccine. If true then there won't be any sports for a year or more.

People will doubt that this could happen too

Oh FFS
I have no idea what the reasoning is behind this stuff, and I'm pretty pro-lockdown for the near term.
I'm sure it would be a logistical pain to play without fans or limit fan #s, but I'd have to think programs would be happy to do that to avoid revenue losses?

Did he cancel school as well

There will be football in some capacity. By the end of May business owners and the consumers both will be fed up with this.

I think the big issue is that even without fans there would be 100s of people at the events. Between two teams that have over 100 players and staff, and all the different crews that are required to be there to televise it. I don't think they would have to cancel the season, but I can see a very real scenario where it is cancelled. You also have to factor in things like conditioning. It's not safe to have players quarantined and then go out and play high level football. Who knows at this point. I think that if this thing is bad enough in September to cancel football, then we probably have big problems.

While a vaccine seems like it’d be necessary before you can open stadiums to fans, I think from a playing perspective the bigger concern is at what point does lack of off season conditioning present a health concern to players? If optimistically speaking they start letting people back into campuses in July, does 2 months give enough time from a sports medicine standpoint for guys to acclimate to both the heat and the physical strain?

I don’t think anyone is supposed to be happy with circumstances now, let alone later. Fed up or not, the reality is what it is and the potential lawsuits that could arise from endangering people will far outweigh the upfront bath teams and companies might have to take

If the schools are open for fall classes, do you make the players do all on line coursework so they aren't exposed to the other students? Do you quarantine them to one dorm? If so, what do you do with the other students who would normally live in that dorm?

Wouldn't this destroy most SEC towns economies?

In the end, Herbie doesn’t know, but there’s a 50/50 chance he’s right.

Herbie works like 90 hours a week during football season. This sounds like wishful thinking. Stop being a slacker, Herbie...

Yeah, this is a nightmare on a number of levels of it happens. What do you do about scholarships? What about incoming classes versus seniors that never got to play their final year? What about scheduled games? Do Bama and UGA, for example, just not play the 2020 game and everyone moves onto 2021 schedules? What about neutral site games?
None of that is reason enough to forge ahead into an unsafe circumstance but there would be a TON of fall out both direct and indirect

He's probably right. Don't see how they allow it, especially people attending games till they have a quick fix for this virus.

Things that will be different in a couple of months, much less September/August:
- Herd immunity will be much higher
- Warm weather will help us out
- Testing will outpace demand
- Antibody testing will help us prioritize risk
- There will be plenty of ventilators and PPE for hospitals
- There will be very effective antiviral treatments available for critically ill, which will reduce deaths
Just watch. By the end of May, we're going to be in great shape as a nation.

Here is the plan I think will be laid out for football this fall.
1. Each staff person for each team, players, and all other persons entering the stadium will have to get a covid19 test that day in order to enter. This is all predicated on the fact that a test being able to return results within hours. Which hopefully will be available soon and at the required quantity.
2. Games will be played without fans or under some kind of size restriction until a vaccine is widely available.
3. Tailgating will be banned for the foreseeable future until a vaccine is widely available.
