People also never blame the consumer for the goods they’re buying. Aggressive tariffs in this administration have also been used for trade leverage, protection of US markets and sanctions. The overwhelming shite China dumps into our country and the consumers who eat it up are disguting. But again nobody discusses that in the tariff discussion.

And those are more nuanced reasons why we could have some level of tariffs. However it doesn’t really change the fact that many people don’t understand how they work at their core level, but Trump has not been particularly honest about it either like the tariff rebates which, when you know how the money is collected, make literally no sense

It’s because somehow people don’t understand how tariffs work. They think that US exporters have been getting charged a ton of money from other countries and they now think that we are charging foreign countries to send stuff over here.

There is absolutely a use case for tariffs but if used mainly as a revenue generating policy, it’s very similar to just an increase in sales tax

In what world is it fair for a country to charge us extremely higher %’s and we don’t charge them al all.

Tariffs aren’t charged to the other country though. Another country placing a tariff on US imports (from their perspective) is them charging their citizens to import products from us.

Were you ever mad when we had tariffs imposed on us and we just accepted it?

Why would anybody be mad that another country charged their citizens to import our products lol

Reality is that Steven is obviously new and is not at his peak as a coach yet and this is one of the lesser talented teams that Auburn has had in the entire “Pearl” era. It is what it is. I think that making the tourney would be a solid year.
Perry has 22 more catches for Auburn than I do the past 2 seasons. We will be okay if he leaves.
I read that it is FSU first but I have no idea

He tried to claim he has already received a couple calls from other schools, and I dont believe it.

I mean I absolutely believe that some lower levels schools could want him. He is still able to recruit and at the lower level that is enough (it is not in the SEC.)

His energy needs to be on the guys on the roster and then the portal.

This. Coaching transitions are so much easier now since you are able to plug holes so quickly. I would not worry about this high school class much at all to be honest. I think that we should expect him to be able to grab some solid players by February, and if he does not that would be concerning, but this class was never going to be as good as it would have had we kept Hugh or promoted Durkin.

Golesh has a proven track record of being both a high level recruiter and being able to do it in the south. Harsin had neither of those on his resume so if anyone is already comparing them it’s a bit silly.
I mean he was at a school that basically is not able to get anything better than three stars. And now we are losing a good recruiting staff (that was not winning games) that the recruits had built connections to. It is natural to lose recruits and also have the first new recruits be the top guys that he liked at his other school. Lets see where we stand in a couple of weeks but it’s not really reasonable to expect him to be grabbing top high school talent two days in.
UF under Sumrall after all of the nonsense around it would be funny

Played multiple positions in the SEC and has a ton of experience coaching despite being young. I do not really care if he is an alum or not, he is qualified to be on the staff.

that doesn't have a damn thing to do with boosters being involved with who is hired and fired.

Why do our boosters so consistently want coaches that not other boosters want
It doesn’t really matter who is making the decisions they have been bad at it
My final opinion on Durkin is this:

He could be really good as the head coach. None of us have any way of knowing. What I do know is that if ANY of the other open SEC schools hired him as their head coach, their fans have a fricking come apart. Just like they would have if they had hired Freeze and just like they would have if they hired Harsin. The reason is that Durkin has shown no proof at all that he is a good head coach and has only shown the opposite. Could he have improved potentially? Absolutely. However I do not believe that Auburn is currently at a place in its current state to be the school that gambles on it. If this was a situation like the basketball team had where we transitioned to an assistant that was unproven but had been apart of an incredibly successful program for years, I would understand. That it not where Auburn football is at now and I firmly believe that this hire HAS to be at least good even if it’s not a home run.

But did we compete. Yes or no.

Do you actually expect an intellectually honest answer based on the previous response? I am not even saying that Durkin did bad but the revision of our season is insane
quote:

he took a team that couldn't compete

Auburn has been competitive in literally every game this year. Like unironically every single one.
If nothing bad that happened is because of Durkin what did he do well? Did he just call a good defensive game? Because he has been doing that for like a decade now and yet is not a head coach anywhere.
I genuinely do not see what is different the past few weeks versus the rest of the season. We have played good teams tight all year.
Bama has to be the worst team that I have ever seen at getting the play in on time
