I think what is being left out of this discussion...and many will mock me for it, but I believe GOD is bringing us to our knees. He is allowing this plague and with has taken away EVERYTHING we seem as important or deserving of our worship, whether it be all forms of sports, movies, all other forms of public entertainment concerts etc, dining inside restaurants, to now even most shopping and congregating in public places. Now they are even talking about in some states closing golf courses, parks and confining people to their homes...so you can't even go fishing.

This is something that is Biblical in size and something our world hasn't seen as a total worldwide plague. I love my football, racing, fishing etc..and I love going to church of which I can't go to worship in the church building right now....yes I believe GOD is telling us to wake up, that HE is in control and desires us to truly follow Him. He alone is who will allow this plague to continue or to end it....yes he does give our scientists the intellect to find treatment, but it is Him who will stop it. We need to acknowledge Him as the creator of all and that He is Lord. Yes we love our sports, but maybe God is saying I want your worship, everything else is secondary. He has blessed this nation since its beginning.

It's time to put God back in our nation....if our nation will repent he'll heal our land. I pray for all and our nation.

Downvote away.

No, you can't

By April 10, there will be massive movement towards easing/removing restrictions. There's a better chance of having spring football than the regular season being cancelled.

Why are people almost revelling in these worst case scenarios? There is no chance we hit June 1st with massive restrictions. The American people are not known for their patience with giving up their amenities. You think their going to tolerate giving up their lifestyles because great aunt Mary is in ICU in Poughkeepsie?

Yes, being a realist about the situation is “reveling in these worst case scenarios”

Which, btw, no college football is not a worst case scenario. Sports are a luxury.

There will be no spring football and we will be lucky at this rate to have any sports the rest of this year.

Travel to hotspots will be the issue that there is no answer for.

The coronavirus pandemic is unprecedented for everyone currently alive, but it's not unprecedented when looking at the whole of human history.

I think, if anything, it's a wake up call for Americans that we can't keep electing buffoons to represent us in congress and the white house and the Republican and Democratic parties need to be torn down.

Were you saying this leading up to NCAA tournament cancellation?

I think there is at least a 80% chance that football is affected in some way. The athletes really need practice and conditioning before going out on the field, and, with the way things are right now, we are nowhere near being able to safely hold a large sporting event like a football game - especially considering some states in the SEC footprint are shite-shows (Lousiana, probably soon to be others).

I think we'll get something, but it's not going to be a normal season.

Young people are barely affected by it, so I would imagine they could work something out to play in some capacity. It's not like you have 80-year-olds with pre-existing conditions playing on the field.

There is a 15-minute, home pin-prick test in the works as well. Once they work out the kinks, stuff like that will help tremendously.

It is astonishing to me that people still don’t understand why “young people aren’t at risk” isn’t the issue

It's also not true. We've had young people in this country die from it. Death is very rare, but it's still dangerous for young people.

It's wreaking absolute havoc on people ages 50+, which is a good portion of our population.

As long as there are no practices scheduled there won't be football. I think the season is hosed if nothing transpires by Aug 1, and possibly earlier than that.

I actually think that some of the season will be salvaged no matter what.

We are heading into the heart of darkness and when we make it out, we will need something to get us back on our feet - not just financially but emotionally and spiritually as well.

College football is that answer.

Well, no shite. Football has already been affected "in some way". The draft has already been cancelled as a live spectator event. That's not exactly going out on a limb.

But flu season ends here pretty soon and infection rates are going to crater. There will be no public support for continuing restrictions. When does college fall camp start, July? You honestly think there will be any quarantine in July? You're out of your mind.

So colleges miss spring ball? Who cares? That's not going to affect the big marquis matchups on opening weekend. Too much money. I wouldn't be surprised to see the NCAA allow teams to open fall camp early this year to make up for the lost spring.

Despite all the modern day Cassandras, this is not going to affect regular season football schedules.

If college football is cancelled then highschool football will be too. What does that do to recruiting? This could have lasting affects on the game for several years.

bullshite. This damn virus has too many areas on 24 hr curfew and demands to stay at home. We (USA) have no idea how widespread this thing will be, the latest numbers are a drop in the bucket.
