Lol no

There are so many reasons this won't happen.

POTENTIALLY a fever check, but I doubt it. They'll either have fans or no fans.

The thing that scares me is, like it or not, Herbie has sway and is a loud voice in the CFB world. So if he says it, others pick it up and discuss. Some will disagree but others will agree with his opinion and then let the ember turns into a fire and then the NCAA hears and makes a ruling.

I don't think the NFL or CFB will happen either.

Just playing devil's advocate but it's bad here in Louisiana. So let's say a player or 4 get in on LSU's football team. No way do they let LSU play any other team. Multiply that concept by 130 or so NCAA D1 schools and yea, this shite isn't gonna happen. And that makes me very sad!

With you on everything else but these two are hopefuls, not guarantees. There are still questions surrounding whether those who have been sick gain immunity or can catch it again.

Then we won't have football if each person entering the stadium cannot be tested with results returned that day

Logistically, that’d be impossible to manage, not to mention anyone could forge results if they wanted to. It’s either leadership (school, conference, NCAA, and government) feel confident that we’re all clear or they don’t and if they don’t, there’s no fan attendance if any football at all

It's clear that Mardi Gras did us in. We had 3 weeks and weekends of Mardi Gras where everyone was touching the same food, beer, port-a-potty's, etc.

We were fricked and we didn't even know it.

Seems to be the biggest issue with this disease; at least with the flu you know you have it and can shut down as needed. With this, a lot of people have just been carrying it and never even know it and it’s beginning to hit people you wouldn’t think it could hit so hard

Yep. Let's just assume that the season happens. Ok. I'm a Bama fan and we're scheduled to play USC in Jerry's World Stadium.

So think about that, who's gonna travel from California (assuming plane flights here) and Alabama to Texas and sit with people from 2, probably 3 given TX, states?!
I was debating going to that game but frick THAT!

The other aspect is that the government could say do what you want and the NCAA clear people to play but what if certain schools or conferences say no because there are still lingering hotspots in their geographic area? Do you just cancel all games with those teams? What about the scholarships for those specific players?

This is going to be a complex issue and folks should hope for the best but prepare for a disappointing solution

There really aren't that many questions about immunity actually. They're pretty confident once you get it, 99% of people are immune from this novel virus. There hasn't been large mutation in it and they don't expect it to change much.

And there aren't questions about warm weather helping, just a matter of how much. Everyone agrees it will have at least some impact. Infectious "period" on surfaces is lower and the spit/virus particles in the air can't travel as far in warm, humid weather.

Well said. Yep.
I'm going to hope for the best but go ahead and expect the worst.

On the bright side, as a Bama fan, I'm already designing the 2020 National Championship banner! You best believe both the "0"s for "2020" will have the little circular COVID19 image they keep showing on the news!!

While I've heard that too, explain Louisiana then. It's been near 90 here the last week and a half and 80 the 2 weeks before that and it's ALWAYS humid here. Yet our numbers are friggin staggering.

So I'm not so sure I believe people when they say warm weather and humidity stop the spread.
My rebuttal to that: Explain Louisiana's numbers!?!

It doesn't stop it. No one will claim that.

Who knows how much worse it'd be without that weather? How do you know it's not helping?

The people that say it helps are basically every epidemiologist on the planet that have studied infectious diseases their entire careers. Influenza is greatly impacted by it every single year.

While a vaccine seems like it’d be necessary before you can open stadiums to fans,

The thing is.......if there is no cure by then, the athletes could pass it from one to another whether fans are at the game or not. There is no way to "social distance" on the field or in the locker room. These athletes have kids/babies/wives at home.

For us to get back to a somewhat normal way of life........we must either go on total lockdown for 15 days or find a cure.
