What Does It Mean For CFB If Alabama Wins The Natty?

This has already been such an insane season.
Alabama winning it all would almost perfectly underline the insanity of the 12 team playoff and the state of modern cfb.
What would it mean when a 3-loss team who lost to 2 unranked opponents becomes the national champion?
In the new world of the sport, this is now possible.
It absolutely makes the regular season much less important. It renders conference championships completely meaningless.
It's also not nearly as improbable as you might think. I think it's much more likely that Alabama gets bounced in the first round than winning it all.
But.
Alabama has already proven they can beat anyone, and are at their best when they have an extra week to prepare.
Do you really see Oregon or a Big Ten team winning it?
No.
B12 or ACC?
Hell no.
The winner is gonna be from the SEC.
Texas is a paper tiger.
It's gonna be between Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Alabama has just as good a shot as anyone.
Like it or not. This is what cfb is now

The more things change, the more they stay the same
Extended playoffs keeps more people interested for longer.

If Milroe wasn't the QB, I'd be all in on rooting for Alabama this playoff just for the lulz.

It means no global droughts thanks to LSU tears.

Serious question, what do you have against Milroe? Bama fans get frustrated by his play sometimes, but off the field he really seems to be an upstanding dude.

Has it ever really meant much?
It’s a game, not life and death.
They will start all over next season and have the greatest playoff ever again.
In the 1992-2023 era, the SEC had enough definition to determine a league champion. I don’t think we play enough conference games for a true conference champion to be decided, but that’s what TV wants. Bigger leagues with less definition.

Nothing against him, I just don't like the way he plays the position.

It’d be no different than the Giants winning the Super Bowl as a wildcard in ‘07, once you’re in, it’s just one game at a time for all involved.

another shitty day for CFB

Yes new CFB doesn’t mean the best team is NC just like the Super Bowl. The NY Giants were not better than New England with Brady but they won and they’re the champs.

It would Let All Naysayers Know that there weren't any good football teams this year.

lost to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma and he thinks Alabama's going to win the CFP

What it means is what the rest of us have been thinking for a long time, Saban sold his soul to the Devil and there is a contract clause giving bama another championship the year after he leaves to prove it was his leadership and recruiting prowess that powered the tide all along.

At the very least, it means there's much more parity in the sport.
But you're right, there isn't a single team that stands out clear above the rest.
I think there's about 5 or 6 teams who have a legit shot at winning it all. A lot of it comes down to who has the easiest path.

Just like how every season is "the most dramatic in Bachelor history!", per the commercials.

Wait, didn't Alabama beat the team that punked the Longhorns in their own stadium? The only ranked opponent they faced all season?
That's right, we did.

And we punked two teams that punked you.

You know Milroe isn't capable of stringing 4 good games together.
