I agree. I take it as more proof of another lesson. Never make predictions because you never know how you're going to feel at any given moment. It's interesting to see it happen to Saban going from years of saying there's nothing I'd want to do in retirement to saying there is a lot I want to do.

The only coach in your reasoning would be Kirby and he’s only beat Saban one time.
There is no replacement to come close to Saban they never will be or not for along time anyway

Saban tried to get the Wash OC (Grubb) last year, so I think Saban has a lot of respect for what him and DeBoer are doing at Wash.

I remember the twists and turns of the last search. Mal staying outside the Saban home gate. Mrs. Terry letting him in. Mal later saying he knew if he could convince Mrs. Terry to come to BAMA, that would most likely persuade her husband.
The reason I am not thinking anyone is truly crossed off the list unless a contract extension has been finalized and signed; I love Coach, but all of us remember the “I’m not going to be the coach at Alabama” statement. I just wish, like the rest of you, that I had a solid idea of who it might be, and it may well be DeBoer.

as long as Saban is around, there is just no way this school is hiring Kiffin. I don't believe he is even being considered

Sometimes I like to play a game where I think, “What would be the worst thing that could happen right now?” And in this scenario, it would be hiring Bill O’Brien. How awkward and horribly hilarious would it be if Bama hired BOB? Milroe and all his talk about “Who’s laughing now?” The awful way he’s handled Mac in NE. The hatred the fan base has for him. Hire Bill, then he retains Rees and brings back Golding as DC and his buddy as the oline coach.

They can announce that he and the University of Alabama have agreed to terms to make him the new HC of the football program and introduce him in a press conference tomorrow.
