UGA fans, any plans to upgrade the sound system and/or video boards?
I know y'all let the play on the field do all the entertaining, but I think it is time for a major upgrade in your guys stadium 'experience".
A little lacking if I may say so myself.

Games would be a lot better if stadiums ripped most of that crap out.

I agree actually, Sanford is middle of the pack in terms of stadium/fan experience. I know uga is #1 on the field etc etc

That's fair.
We can't all be Vaught Hemingway.
What did Kiffin say in his post-game press conference?
He lost because he needs to recruit better?
He doesn't have the athletes that UGA has?
He doesn't highlight the home game experience to recruits enough? Because if they paid attention, they would see the best GameDay atmosphere is Vaught-Hemingway Stadium?
That's pretty much it in a nutshell.
Good luck holding on to your head coach as he looks for why his recruiting isn't on par in Oxford, Mississippi

Been said before but it's hard to make it much bigger without blocking the bridge. That's not gonna happen.
Speakers could probably stand an upgrade

Wow, that's almost exactly what your wife said to me about you last night. But uh, don't worry bro, I think she'll be, ...satisfied...for a pretty looooong while now.

I don’t really see what incentive UGA would have to spend money on that at the moment.

You are gonna take some heat but you ain't wrong. The experience is far better than it used to be, about the time Mark Richt was hired it was lousy and had been since the 1970s. The crowd is fantastic now but it used to be a social gathering where a football game broke out.
I have spent many hours in every section of Sanford Stadium and like most college stadiums the stadium experience itself is not great. Horrible seats (good site lines though in most sections) and getting in and out if a nightmare at times. The tailgating is not what it used to be either but the in game crowd is infinitely better so thats a wash. I wish they'd lower the seating capacity by about 20,000 seats and put actual seats in the thing but it will never happen. NFL stadiums are souless but most college stadiums are just bigger more uncomfortable high school stadiums...and Sanford is kind of one of them...

I can completely empathize why you've moved on to conversations typically reserved for post-season.

You been to a night game in Athens recently?
No?
Ok.

The video board is fine. The sound system needs to be completely re-vamped.
Right now, they’re relying FAR too much on the massive speakers in the scoreboard itself to boom the sound through the stadium. The result is intolerably loud music levels when you’re sitting in the west end of the stadium.
They need to spread the speaker system out more evenly so you get a more uniform sound spread throughout w/o blasting the eardrums out of people in the west end zone.

An unimpressive stadium for sure.

I’d wager GreyReb is a Millennial. Enthralled by loud, flashy and shine over substance. Dig a little deeper and I bet he’s pissed there isn’t a safe space in the stadium too.

I haven’t been to a game in Sanford since 2017 so I honestly don’t know what it’s like any more. Last two games I went to were the 2019 and 2022 seccg in our other home stadium. Place is posh. Especially in the club level.

I’d rather they just spend that money on recruiting instead. It seems to have a bigger payoff at the moment

It’s amazing what UGA fans somehow think is disrespect. I had no issue with the video boards (besides seeing too many replays of the arse whooping). The sounds system was awful. It could do with a lot of improvement.
Otherwise, your fans were super loud, louder than Tuscaloosa this year by far. And I think Ole Miss needs to take some notes as well from a student experience as well. Their students get some good real estate in that stadium and are directly next to the band. Their students also seemed more coordinated than ours do, doing specific cheers, etc. when certain songs are played. Probably something that comes with time, success, and championships.

I guess if my team was getting their teeth kicked in at Sanford, I’d find the experience boring, too.

Been to 250+ games with around 18% in other stadiums. If OP thinks the atmosphere was lacking Saturday it was bc his Ole Miss got destroyed and their pep band didn’t get to play much.
Our band was great, on field activities great, interaction with fans is great, team was great. Our goal wasn’t to entertain you.
