Thanks! That’s how I feel. I’ve been fascinated with the mountain and Sherpa culture since I read Into Thin Air 20 or so years ago. To see the Himalayas up close, meet and get to know the people, food, customs is a bucket list item for me. To do it with my sons? Priceless. But i’m 56 now, no way I’m attempting to climb it.

I’m a little concerned about the altitude. I’ve got three weeks of Diamox. My doctor told me to start a day before I leave and continue until I get home. And we take it slow. Hike a day, acclimate for a day, hiking higher, coming back down to sleep. Rinse and repeat. There’s really no way to prepare your body for that altitude. We’ll see.

I was surprised to learn the tea houses we stay in along the way have WiFi until you get closer to BC. I’ll try to post some pics.
My two boys and I are doing this together. I’m prepared physically and over prepared gear wise. My youngest climbed Kilimanjaro last year with the same guide. His team are pros. Anyone ever made the trek? Suggestions? We’ll have a couple of days before and after the hike in Kathmandu. Recs there?

Kennedy MUST go.
The committee’s job is to choose the BEST four teams, not the most DESERVING.

FSU doesn’t belong even if they beat Louisville. Kentucky scrubbed the luster off that potential win. You could have made a decent argument before Travis’ injury that they shouldn’t be in. Now? No one thinks they are a top 4 team.

A 13-0 FSU will get in, but it would make the committee’s job much easier if there’s chaos this weekend to just take them off the board.

Pittman will likely give him free rein of the offense, but you can’t help wonder how these two temperaments will work together. Sam “Aw Shucks” Pittman and Bobby ‘Inferno’ Petrino. What will coaches meetings look like?
My wife is from Georgia and a lifelong, avid fan. She may lay an egg before Saturday, she’s so anxious about this game. I’ll be cheering for the Dawgs.

That being said. Who knows? But I expect lots of points.

42-40 Pick ‘Em

Once we warmed to the idea of a position coach running our program, Hog Nation showed him a lot of love his first two seasons. He was a humble, decent man who genuinely loved our state and said most of the right things. We shrugged, jumped aboard and said ‘let’s see what happens’. Then he became OUR 9-4 position coach. He basked in the love. It’s like he never even considered or anticipated how we would react if things went south. Now that the wheels have come off, the whole ‘aw shucks’ shtick is offensive (no pun intended). We want and need substance. Unfortunately, it ain’t there and never has been. The emperor has no clothes.

This experiment was doomed from the beginning.

Ouch

Texas A&M stoops to new low by unhiring Mark Stoops amid fan revolt

Nuggets…

The Aggies are still under the delusion that they deserve a big time college coach

quote:

A&M still has the Johnny Manziel-era overconfidence permeating through the pores of its fans, who thought Ryan Day would be interested in abandoning his post and the lofty annual expectations at Ohio State for the calm, reasonable fanatics at Texas A&M.

quote:

No coach without a national championship or a playoff appearance on his resume is good enough to coach their esteemed program, so you can understand why they were losing their minds over Stoops.

Instead, A&M’s Napoleon Complex has led them to believe that they need to continue making big swings, no matter how badly they whiff and humiliate themselves.

Arkansas SEC Record History

I’m not sure what this means or what it has to say about our football program, but we can draw a fairly significant line dividing our time in the SEC.

1992 - 2011
SEC Record: 74-81-2
.500 or better in the SEC in 12/20 seasons

2012 - 2023
24-73-0
.500 or better in the SEC in 2/12 seasons
Also includes THREE 0-8 seasons

We kid about our program running into the ditch with that motorcycle, but…. Yeah. Surely other factors changed around that time to contribute, but there’s no escaping 2012 is when ‘this’ started.

I’d wager GreyReb is a Millennial. Enthralled by loud, flashy and shine over substance. Dig a little deeper and I bet he’s pissed there isn’t a safe space in the stadium too.

Gus
Mullen

Jimbo

Jimbo and Kelly are washed in this age of football. Jimbo doesn’t want to modernize and Kelly’s offense isn’t unique at all anymore.

All of this could be said of Gus. He’s 5-5. In his third season. At U.C.F. Yesterday’s news.

Pittman is lauded as one of the best OL coaches in the country but for whatever reason he refuses to get involved. It makes no sense as Saban is 100% open that he lives in the DB room as that’s his specialty. If you’re the best at something, run it, no matter your role as the HC

Maybe he never was a great OL coach. Maybe he was just a great recruiter with a great OC.
Vaccine. Literally.

According to the CDC.

September 1, 2021: “A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease.”

September 2, 2021: “A preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.”
Biden won’t be the nominee. Who knows how the Dem establishment will pull it off, but there’s no way they can prop him up for a presidential campaign. Daily rallies, many unscripted. Debates. He’s as likely to start singing his ABCs or declare war on Canada as he is to spout policy. The Aricept and Namenda are losing out to his dementia.

My guess is unspecified “health concerns” at some point that “prevent him from serving the country further”. The interesting question is who they choose to run instead. Harris is a nonstarter. Newsom can’t compete in Middle America battleground states. Buttigieg is very likely a loser. Who knows, but it won’t be Biden.
Footlocker emptied. Again.

Meanwhile, Barnes & Noble sits untouched.
