You know I actually thought for a while that I had finally started a thread that made it to 2 whole pages with nothing but decent, mature, good-natured, informative input and conversation on the beloved topic of college football without someone chiming in with a snide, condescending, childish jab...and then you showed up. (sigh)
There are some posters on this forum that will never change. SMH

Yeah, I got a feeling ol Stockton and young Manning are on a head-to-head collision course at the Benz for the SECCG this season. Wouldn't surprise me if both teams were undefeated, ranked 1 and 2 and this might be the biggest game of the year...just a feelin.

They will be formidable, for sure.

Not saying UGA's will be the best, but we're definitely experienced...
Stockton had 2900 yds passing, 24 TDs, 5 ints with 460 rushing and 10 rushing TDs.
Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens combined for 1500 yards rushing.
So, burst my bubble...who's backfield will be better?

Eh, relax bro. But you can't blame everyone for raising an eyebrow at the thought of a true college football fan that was alive back then that didn't at least HEAR about that game?? It really was a classic.

I have been thinking about the game wondering if we have a shot at winning . It’s a tough task for sure but the way OU played ont be road last year it gives me hope . I wish OU didn’t have UGA and Texas two weeks apart . UGA game will be very physical .
Well, our problem is, we start out the season with Tennesse St, Western Kentucky and Arkansas. So, we're probably going to come into that game looking like juggernauts on paper, but it could all very well be an illusion. I got a feeling we are not going to know what kind of team we have until the first quarter of that game, a whole month into the season. :dunno:

Why do you have to bring up that game?
Bro, if me and my crowd would have had a bowl full of Zanax pills that night, we would have been passing them around like freakun nachos! That was the most nerve-shattering game I've ever seen.

which means absolutely nothing since we've only played one time. But man, was it a great game! Can't wait for this coming season's match up
I don't mind saying, I think its going to be UGA's toughest regular season game (no offense Bama posters).

Yall certainly got a good DL in Marcus Fakatou. Alot of UGA insiders thought we had a good chance to land him.

Eh, you can't look to much into this. Kirby has owned all of our main rivals, Auburn, Tenny and UF for a whileand mopped the floor with LSU the last time we played them. We've traded blows with Bama for the last couple of years so that skews our results.

Go ahead and laugh, bro. But you drastically underestitmate what a good coach can do for a program.
Watch out for Kentucky. Stein was the best offseason coaching hire in the SEC IMHO. They may not have overall talent to break in the upper tier of the conference, but they're going to end up being a contender sooner than later.

You're not replacing talent like you used to and lost some key contributors
We lost some talent for sure but we return the entire backfield and 4 olinemen with starting experience; Gaston and Glover started games as true freshmen. I think our TE depth makes up for losses in the WR room.
We'll miss Christian Miller, but remember Ellijah Griffin's name....the whole country will know it by season's end.

Which is why I said, "I'm sure they'll rebound before its over."
I'd be a bit worried about their current recruiting ranking. I know its still early but last time I looked they were ranked in the 60s just below UNLV and one step above South Florida. But I'm sure they'll rebound before its over and make a push for the top 5 at least.
UGA, Bama and Ohio St have ruled recruiting for a while now, but you get the feeling that's all changing with the changing landscape of cfb and NIL stuff. Schools can't just expect to get all the 5 stars solely on name and tradition. In the words of Bob Dylan, "Times they are-ah changin."

We (UGA) will be better than we were last year. The question is how much will UF improve?

What's your opinion?
I agree with ya. I'd probably considering adding maybe Miami. They seemed to have gotten their stuff together. Miami, Clemson and Notre Dame all have alot of nostalgia and history.
What do you think, Bucki?

Well, as for UGA,after winning a couple of natties everyone got deflated when we didn't win one the last few years, even though we've won the SEC a couple of times and most schools would LOVE to do that. It just goes to show the pressure that's heaped on a program once you've tasted great success.
We return alot of talent and have an easier schedule, but Oky looks like a dangerous game for us early and Bama will be looking for blood after that bullwhipping we put on them in the SECCG. Another 11 win season would be wonderful anywhere else, but if there's no natty attached to it, they'll be more eyebrows raised in Athens than ever about Kirby and where the program is headed.
