Dude on Crain and Kone with the uni-brow tried to summarize it, but he was 100% correct.

- We on a message board are fans, I want to win every game 60-0.
- Some AU fans want a coach who is a good Christian man
- Some AU fans want a coach who graduates players
- Some AU fans want a coach who takes the team to the hospital and cleans up state parks
- Some AU fans want to just point to some creed and pretend they are smarter than us - old ITAT
- Some AU fans just want to complain about the ref's, NIL, transfer portal and say "aw shucks"
- Some AU grads, don't care about AU sports (there are more of these than you think) they still wear the shirt on Friday's at work and have the AU license plate.
- Some AU grads only care about hunting season

Other teams from the AD, HC, all the way down to the part-time lady who scrubs toilets in the athletic department want to win football games.

Don't give two rips about basketball, baseball, men's golf, or any single women's sport, football drives the engine. Feed it! What the hell are we doing here? CFB hell.

Team has given up, and I'd bet we split Arkansas and State, go to B'ham bowl and lose. Pathetic, and scraggly beard guy looks completely lost on the sideline. Light someone's as* up please, player, ref, camera man, show some emotion.

The fact that our basketball program, which has been to 2 Final Fours in the past decade, was handed over to the former coach's son - despite him having no head coaching experience - tells you how unserious our leadership is. Either we had no succession plan to get Steven out of Auburn and get him head coaching experience at a lower-level program to get him ready to come back to Auburn, OR we let Bruce play us by dropping his resignation at a time that left us no better choice. Either way, it shows a lack of planning/foresight. Seems we have too many unprofessional people involved in the athletic department running it like a small-town family business.

First off it's firing coaches left and right with no patience.

Right now it's a depth and roster issue. Until we go back to the basics and rebuild our lines and go from there we will never win consistently.

A RB and QB after you have a OLine. WRs are the easiest to fill in and upgrade later.

A DL can take alot of the slack off the rest of the defense and build the backfield with the best you can get. Then depth.

Obviously a kicker.

Outside of a kicker and a couple decent RBs and WRs we are very average with no depth.

This is the answer. We’ve been so absurd on both sides of the line that it has to be purposeful.

I think he is greatly understating how much those same things are still present at other places. It took Saban to shut that stuff up at Alabama, and even then it took a few years before it actually got shut up, and you better believe it’s going to start speaking back up again if/when Deboar is gone. Even at places like Ohio State, I know enough up there that they deal with that same shite too. We have bad decision makers plain and simple in that regard, those factors are not some drastic difference at Auburn, it’s just out people end up making the wrong decision more often than not.

End of the day though, our problem is we don’t consistently get the players we need in order to compete. We’ve made some boneheaded coaching hires and that has drastically made things worse, but it boils down to our talent is not good.

Firing Gus with no plan in place started all this, but it was time for both of the last two coaches to hit the road.

I think to 3rd’s point though, it really isn’t a case of firing coaches with no patience. It was time for Gus to go, but the shitshow of what follows as you said, started all this. Inexcusable lack of organization.

Core issue…

Auburn is a blue color University at its heart.

We do not have that culture anymore. 2010 ruined that in a way. It was great for the team and University but we got away from who we are and have since then chased high scoring offenses and offensive head coaches.

I think Golesh has the right mindset for what we need if he implements his principles. No clue if he really does that or not. We definitely aren’t the most violent team in the country. We don’t run the piss out of the football. We don’t punt and put our defense in good field position.

Yes I know it’s not 1985 anymore but Auburn football has always been successful when the players and coaches goal was not to score 55 a game or to fire a team out. Our DNA as a school, fanbase, and formerly a football team was/is to go out every weekend and make the other team quit. We lost game obviously but that same team that beat us would never want to play us again the very next weekend.

So the solution is to embrace that grind. We love the hardest schedules. We need talent but we need hard working talent. Warrior mentality.

Jordan-Hare may be haunted may be magical who knows but the same can be said for the new football facility. We are weak and soft.

So 2 fold for the core issue. Talent and mentality.

I’m afraid, as a whole, when college athletics has opened the door to “I make more than you” from a player to a coach the patients are running the asylum. There is no respect anymore from the high-end talent to the coaches, program, and the university.

15 years ago a “kid” went to the university to be shaped into a player that could make a living at the next level. That is literally given to them when they promise to play for the school, classes be damned by the way, so they are not a “kid” anymore but a jewelry wearing diva. “Here’s a six to seven figure bag my man…buy momma a house and you a car…you’ve made it!”

Might as well pick a service academy to look for the last vestiges of a student athlete that is trying to better themselves academically and/or athletically for the next level. Then add in an unrestricted free agency with the portal and the diva is off to the next highest bidder. Whoreism in college sports.

The only bought-in “blood on the saddle” football you’re going to enjoy is your local high school Friday night lights games (or service academies or way lower division football). Long gone is any program where someone comes in with the idea of putting in work/be coachable to make it to the next phase, whether that be playing time or advancing to the NFL.

If ANYBODY—coach, AD, administration can figure out how to operate within those parameters, you have unlocked the key to winning in this era of college sports. Auburn hasn’t figured it out for 10+years (add in the recent whoreism) and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

TLDR version: figure out how to control 18-22 year old six-figure to multi-million dollar divas is the bottom line. Good luck.

I apologize if you’re referencing the language. It was a poor choice of words. I shouldn’t have used the language. I don’t apologize for the sentiment. I’m sick of being a bottom feeder.

Sorry, I was not referencing the language...Auburn football is indeed a poop show. I was saying that we have yet to show that we are in fact better than Arkie.

I’m not sure we could come up with an all-star group from among those that have played OL since then that would be better?

No they didnt. Every coach knows those lines are the key to setting up a sustainable program. They just cant get the narrative turned. There is obviously a bad word out on Auburn with offensive line men. Not sure if it happened by negative recruiting or what but its a small world out there and there is a reason we cant sign any significant amount of good offensive linemen.

If you really believe that 4 straight coaches "stopped recruiting linemen", then I just dont think there is any conversation to be held.

We cant get good guys to sign and we cant do shite with the average guys who do sign. Its a cycle that has to be broken but none of the last 4 coaches "stopped recruiting" linemen. Thats just plain stupid

Not only head coaches. Coordinators. Now half the fans are calling for DJ and AG. Some coaches deserved it but we can't fire people every year and get anything rolling swapping systems every year.

It used to cut ties with recruits and relationships. But now it's purely a combination of no recruiting under Harsin and rebuilding from Gus' system. Yeah, we have NIL and people think that's a fix everything every year but that's not how it works unless you have the money to buy a full team yearly.

All Alex can do is make it through the year and then sit down and look at priorities to recruit and spend the money on the right positions. He studies the grading of players more than anyone if he's serious about wanting to win.

Auburn isn't a school at the moment that has recruits or players beating down the doors so he has to rebuild and deal with the money players wanting it all to build a team. It was a complete mess he walked into. Not some half built team adjusting to NIL.

We have saw streaks of being out matched but we have also shown signs of a lesser team winning close games and even upsetting UGA. Including a legit shot at a bowl. That is a big step in the right direction.

To me it just looks like we don't have the personnel. We very rarely win 1v1 battles at any position on the field. Years past we were in a great position to recruit Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. We were never the #1 team in any of those states but they were fertile enough ground that you could get a couple of good pickups from each state and build a very solid team.

In the modern landscape Auburn is going to have to overpay for lesser talent. If a top transfer has the same offer from any of the big name nationally recognized state schools v. Auburn most will probably go to the larger state schools. Then we also have to compete with the schools with maybe lesser traditions and historical success but have much larger student enrollment and alumni numbers and more money for NiL.

Yep to make the jump we want next season which is to be competitive in every game next season. We are going to have the use the LSU model. Throw big money at a roster. The difference in the 2 rosters is around $10m-$12m. With that you can get 6-7 true difference makers between the 2 teams. It’s ridiculous what college football has become. But if we want to play with the Big Boys you have to get up to par with the Big Boys and yes we may have to pay a hair higher.

But like I said previously… if we don’t have $7m in a QB and OL I will be extremely pissed. We gave up a fricking home game on an even numbered year schedule with Bama and UGA on the road. So that dude can frick right off.

So we will be looking into bringing about 50 new players in again. Or we better be. 30 portal 20-25ish high school.

$3+ on a legit QB

$4m on an elite OT and 3 good
Top 3rd of the conference guard/center.

Then use your other $30m to get DL and pass rushers, corners, probably need a 6’+ absolute burner at WR

Edit as I saw your other response. Gus did have 8 years. But firing with no plan for the next coaching hire, yeah, that is stupid.
