If you really believe that 4 straight coaches "stopped recruiting linemen", then I just dont think there is any conversation to be held.
This is just word games, or whatever you want to call it.
After the Braden Smith press, Gus not changing, and the strangulation of his his last contract - all this made it virtually impossible to recruit OL. If he tried or not is of no consequence.
I'm sure Harsin would have taken a 5 star if one fell into his lap, but it's pretty well known he didn't really try or didn't emphasize star power talent in the least. So yeah he stopped recruiting elite talent at OL.
Freeze did recruit and we got talent.
For at least the first year, Golesh definitely didn't try with max effort as he used valuable slots and money on USF guys (rightly or wrongly).

I don't know how to fix it. Maybe if they paid me a few million I would have a go at it. Otherwise all I can do is bitch and complain like everyone else.
Eventually the stands are going to be empty, especially with NIL essentially destroying the game as we once knew it. I think more and more folks are tired of paying money, traveling, and having to sit and watch millionaire players get stomped by 30 points. It's one thing when amateurs lose - but it's infuriating when people making millions can't complete a pass, catch a ball or make a block.
The stands are going to be empty in the coming years and then maybe the President/BoT will finally decide to get serious and stop dicking around. Take money out of their coffers and perhaps they will get the message.

I wish the NIL as whole everywhere was based on production like coaches' bonuses. We obviously can't do it if other don't or we will not get anyone.
I think if the NCAA could/would fix the transfer portal then it would help alot. Schools with oil money will always have an advantage but it would allow schools to keep players and a foundation to build on each year.

Patience grasshopper. Not sure some of you would have been happy with Dye’s first year. (5-6). What game have we loss that we should have won? Florida maybe?
The big money guys held back funds this year to spend next year. This year was around $28 mill. Next year $50 mill.
How many still want Durkin as head coach? I hate Cohen and think overall he has been bad for every sport except Golf and Baseball.
Playoffs next year.

So in your thinking, Harsin, Freeze and now Golesh came in to this big job absolutely knowing that one of the biggest issues was the offensive line and just did nothing
We talk shite on these coaches but man, they are way smarter about football than you think. People seem to think they just bypasses the oline and said they would take care of it later.
Linemen are not coming here for other reasons. And I doubt money is going to change that.

Why do you guys think money is going to change this? We have more money than most of the teams out there and are still failing. Look at that top 25 list and tell me how many of those teams have more than the Auburn Tigers. Maybe less than half?
And I am not telling you that I know the answer. Far from it. I have NO idea. But throwing money at this problem is more than likely not going to fix it. Ask Texas AM
There is a stigma with this program right now

Firing Gus with no plan in place started all this, but it was time for both of the last two coaches to hit the road.

Not only head coaches. Coordinators.

So far Cohen has made 2 panic hires for football.
And 1 for basketball. Even though BP didn't give much of a choice or it was settled before the BP announcement.
Steven Pearl should produce this year. He has a pretty good NIL budget but allowed what happened recently. I think he approved the Hire of the GM correct?

Easily the offensive line.
We are all still wanting the next Cam and it seems like people are willing to pay for it, but they arent willing to pay people to block for him.
That 2010 line was all starting seniors if i recall correctly. Last year our center was legitimately deaf.
You don't need the best QB or the best RB group if you have a rock solid offensive line.

- We on a message board are fans, I want to win every game 60-0.
- Some AU fans want a coach who is a good Christian man
- Some AU fans want a coach who graduates players
- Some AU fans want a coach who takes the team to the hospital and cleans up state parks
- Some AU fans want to just point to some creed and pretend they are smarter than us - old ITAT
- Some AU fans just want to complain about the ref's, NIL, transfer portal and say "aw shucks"
- Some AU grads, don't care about AU sports (there are more of these than you think) they still wear the shirt on Friday's at work and have the AU license plate.
- Some AU grads only care about hunting season
Seems way off to me. I don't know a single Auburn fan that doesn't want to win now at whatever the cost.
