Baylor’s New Defensive Coordinator had the entire summer to dissect the tendencies of the Golesh Offense. The defensive line stunts and shifts outsmarted the offensive coaches. We weren’t polished enough to counter…..
This all boiled to a massive handicap for Baylor in the first quarter. Lagway lost half of his personal offensive threat. That’s the difference. A one legged Lagway…..caused Baylor’s demise.
It’s amazing the amount of damage done starting with Gus. Three failed coaches started a trend. Golesh is right, the first order of business was to change the culture and work ethic. Kids and Coaches know what’s needed. It’s too bad the fan base is not that intelligent.
The funeral is over.
Celebrate the win, Saturday is done.
Go back to work. Long season ahead……GROW each week. We have to work harder, coaches and players alike.

3-3-5 defense is also just a giant pain in the arse to play against when you don’t do it often. It’s like playing against the Syracuse zone D in basketball. Things just always look weird when it is lined up. We should have been more ready for it, but their D was massively improved from last year. Their new coordinator is a good one.

That part wasn’t “lucky”. Baylor subbed so that gave Auburn a chance to sub. In the Instagram picture you saw, the ref is still standing over the ball. Auburn has the chance to sub. Baylor had to call timeout or they would have had a delay of game after our sub.

Yep. CBS twitter was very dumb. Baylor sub went in late, so we sent ours in as late as possible with like 6 seconds left in the play clock, forcing them to call a timeout. It was a great job by our guys.

The one glaring contributing factor…..Lagway handicapped early.
That disrupted their game plan early. One legged QB imprisoned to standing in the pocket took weapons off the table for Baylor
It was funny. Friday was my last infusion treatment cancer. Rang the Bell!
I’m in Georgia and had a new Auburn Fan in the treatment area. Leaving, I her another War Eagle, then unknowingly predicted the win.
“Remember, to win requires one point more than your opponent.”
Rang that bell loud enough for the office to know!

I’m on the opposite opinion. I thought and felt pretty confident that a 2-pt try was in the cards if they scored and a good call for them.
Their Qb was in rough shape. Their kicker is questionable. While we didn’t look great, we got better on both sides of the ball throughout the game. I’d also suggest that they got worse. Maybe marginally but the trending is there.
It took a bad throw and a perfect tackle to keep him from crossing the line.

Was not aware of that until post-game (was at the game). With that in play, makes sense to get your QB off the field, win or lose, after one more play.

I mean yall do realize that had lagway thrown the ball to the outside the dude who caught its momentum would have taken him in. However because he had to turn back around to catch the ball, Winters was able to stop him.
It was the correct play call it was a bad throw.
That said that’s the kind of stuff we give up last year.

Not sure if the broadcast really showed this but Baylor did not bring many players. Probably half as many as we had. Aranda mention he thought extending the game favored Auburn. Lack of depth and wanting to shorten the game for his injured QB played big roles in the decision I sure. Good call on his part. His team was in the position to win. Poor execution.

Their FG kicker must be a total liability. In OT if you can’t confidently make a 35-40 yard FG you’ll lose majority of the time.

I’m sure he didn’t want to have to keep Lagway out there longer on the bum leg. I’m sure that was a big part in his decision.

You didnt see him hobbling around in the first half?

It was the right call and I am thrilled it didn't succeed.
