The best thing that could happen for Arkansas is if football spins off from the universities. Then people can put their money where they want, instead of it being fungible. If I give it to the athletic department and Yuracheck takes it and buys 4 new women’s scholarships, how did that help my goal of a better Saturday in the fall?
This what I've been saying since day one. Let people donate where they want, even down to the position.
I feel bad for Silverfield. No reason to shite on him. He took the job when others didn't. We didn't get who we wanted and we were never going to. Let's at least be civil to the man. Guy is just trying to make a living for his family. If he sucks, he sucks. That's Arkansas football!! I would like to see him take the bull by the horns in fundraising. Work on some angles to get that big money. Don't sell wins to the Walton's, sell helping players, building the university's and Arkansas NWA's prominence. Nothing woke, but that massages that "charity" impulse.

Silverfied supposedly help Arkansas get the naming rights to the stadium.
He said he will try to get Walmart involved. He said if he can then it will be game over.

Doesn’t this frustrate you? Why would I get excited about a coach that Memphis really wanted to fire, but couldn’t bc he did just enough to get by. How could anyone be excited for that? How can the players get excited?
I just don’t get it. Just another lazy hire by HY. Though it may have been his only choice

I have reached the what else can we do, lets let him succeed or fail over two years then see where we are.
If he can increase the NIL pool by pulling the Walton’s off the sidelines he’ll be worth it.

That's partially why I was so in favor of just sticking with Petrino. If you can't make the hire that will actually elevate us beyond what we already had, then why bother committing to someone? For all the ire Pittman got last year, he won 14 SEC games in 5 years. Not a shining achievement in most places, but it's the best tenure since Petrino. This just feels like change for the sake of change to try to garner ticket sales.

From the tone of the posts from people who are willing to be supportive of Silverfield, even they would be pleased with simply mirroring Pittman's results. My question is why make a move at all of you're just going to hire a guy to do what the previous guy was already doing? Does anyone actually think Silverfield has a 9-4 SEC season in him?

If silverdong does well, it’ll be a “lucky hire”
If silverdong does bad, it’ll be a “lazy hire”
HY & silverdong are in a no win situation with some “fans”

FTFY, he should be looking for any job out of here. Of course I believe the University President hamstrings him too. Believing that the school brings in the money when Saban showed that winning brings in far more money.

I think Pittman's downfall is he was great for old school college football where relationships and recruiting mattered. Once the money got involved he was in over his head. The whole I'll be my own GM thing went bad real fast. If he had issues managing games, he durn sure was going to fail at managing player salaries.
He should have hired somebody to handle that from the beginning and it keeps his hands clean with the team.
I genuinely liked Pittman. Ran into him at BWA during a Tennessee basketball game one time and he was nice as heck. I just think his trajectory was going down, and he was getting burned out with the money game.
Could we have gotten a big name, I highly doubt it. This show is so far in the gutter nobody wants to pump money into it. Sadly those people should have watched Indiana and what happens when you hire a good coach and give him the resources he needs.
Right now we are at the mercy of money, and I don't think anybody around here has the wallet to put a championship caliber team together. And the NWA big money is more concerned with art and bike trails.

Perfectly said. Couldn’t agree more. Should’ve just kept Petrino, which could’ve been done for a lot cheaper, then gotten a much better coach at the end of the 26 season.
Last year Auburn, Floridia, OM and Kentucky were all looking for head coaches and I’m sure I’m missing other schools from the P4. At best, our best option was the 4th best coach on the board. We probably ended up with one less than that. All that just to get Pittman results seems foolish.

They should have done it after the 2024 season.
I still believe they wouldn't have gotten anyone.
The reputation is very hard to overcome.

All Petrino had to do was win a few games at home against programs that were pretty bad and we wouldn't have this discussion.
Hiring a coach off from a 2-10 team doesn't bring hope and excitement.
Arkansas needed to move on and hire someone younger and a fundraiser.

Pittman was on his way to retirement before Arkansas gave him a call.
He tried here but after the 2021 season, he fired his agent for Jimmy Sexton. He knew that he needed to strike while the iron was hot because he wasn't going to have a better year than that and he wanted his money as soon as possible.
Arkansas doesn't have the multiple wealthy donors that bigger states have and many of them in Northwest Arkansas aren't from Arkansas and do not care about the razorbacks.

Replace Memphis with Kentucky and you could be very well talking about Calipari. A change of scenery has done wonders for Calipari. Maybe Silverfield needed a change as well. Before someone goes there, I'm not saying Calipari and Silverfield are comparable as the same level of coach or accomplishments. Just change of scenery and fresh start could be what is needed to reinvigorate their coaching juices.

These jobs in the AAC are just stepping stones. They aren't meant to be destinations. Silverfied needed to make his move while he his name still is in good shape.

I may be bleeding conspiracy theory.... but I feel like some of the screw jobs we got down the stretch were the league office sending a message that BP was not welcome back in the SEC. No other way to explain the Miss State fiasco.

I'm not expecting a ton of year one success but I am of the opinion that Silverfield is a better hire than we think it is at the moment. I'm looking forward to finding out. Either we are finally on track to get back on track or still a burning dumpster fire a long way from where we used to be.
