The defenses played good enough to win in the Auburn, State, LSU and Missouri games.

Gave up 31+ points in all but one of those but, yeah, good enough.

He lost to Silverfied.

No, HE didn't. Even so, Nick Saban lost to Charlie Weatherbie.

Also, you do realize scoring is only half the game right? The other half is keeping the other team from scoring which our defense didn't do except in our first two games and I guess I'll give them LSu also. Other than those three games, our opponents scored over 30 points in every single game.

I hope Silverfield as success here, not counting on it, but let's not act like him beating last year's team was some big to do.

Good enough for the defense to give the offense a chance to win those games and they didn't take advantage.

He lost because Silverfied had the more disciplined team. Petrino is by far the better offensive coach but Silverfied was better in other important categories and that was the difference in game.

Petrino was the head honcho for seven games. He failed to correct the penalties and turnovers that have lost them so many games. All he needed to do was win a couple of games at home against terrible opponents. He couldn't do the bare minimum and that is why he isn't here.

No one cares about how many points you score a game and the yardage you put up when you keep losing. No one is going to remember how good this offense was but they will remember the 2-10 season.

Let me provide a very thoughtful yet concise response to this thread.

We may suck.

But it would take Silverdick a lot to reach Chad levels of bad.

It may not amount to anything but I rather be better in some areas of the game that may lead to success than continue to bad in the same areas.

Awful in Defense.

Awful special teams.

Turnovers and penalties that continue to be a problem and hasn't been corrected in years.

Fix these problems and you got a better team and a program in the future.

Hell, even a bad defense would have sufficed. They could have still been bottom third, just not within eyesight of literally dead last in all of D1 football and won at least 3 more games. People severely underplay how bad our defense was last year. It was literally on par with the Morris teams.

If he was as bad as people say, why is it everyone thinks he is still a top 5 play caller.

I’d never argue he was a good person, I’d never argue he should be a head coach. But if you just need offense and have a good defense, he will win you games.

Sonny Dykes said he was a top 5 play caller, and I think Gary Patterson did too. He just isn’t a team builder anymore. Put him at OC and get him a GM that only gives him options. Let him work.

The question is if he is so good then why isn't he the head coach now or at least the OC?

Look at who Arkansas has hired.

Bert a drunk.

Chad an idiot.

Pittman an old assistant coach that should have retired.

You can see why we have been bad for so long.

Silverfied so far doesn't have any of these traits. He can't be as bad as these three stooges.

He didn’t fumble the ball with the lead.

But just think about that….our current coach lost to Petrino in almost every meaningful stat except turnovers, which is what cost Petrino the game.

Yikes.

No, but didn't you know he was on the field playing defense and let Memphis' backup QB drag him 9 yards for the first down that put the game away?

Let's give Silverfield a fricking chance. Yeah, our football program is absolute dog shite. But so far, for me anyway, Silverfield is saying and doing all the right things.

Our recruiting since he got here(considering our situation) has been good in my opinion and he carries himself like he gives a shite. He has passion for the program and doesn't seem to be one that I think will be full of excuses.

I remember when he got hired I was pissed as hell. But since we have all seen more of him, I like the hire and I like Silverfield. Let's give him a chance and see what happens.

When Silverfield starts asking his linemen to trim down to 270-275…we should start to worry.

Until then, let’s see what he can do.

Would you care to put your money up? Are you that confident? I'm that confident we won't win 5 games this year

Yeah I’m not worried about Silverfield. Do I think he is gonna win 10 this year? No. Do I think he is only going to win 2? No. I think he could just be a 6-6 coach. A pure meh.. what I want to see is does his team give up with a lead, like they’ve already won it. Does his team lose every close game?

I don’t think he can win as much as he should with Hunter as his boat anchor. So even if he wins 8, he probably could have won 10-11 without Hunter dragging him down.
