Too many of you are invested in thinking you’re getting one over on opposing fans rather than getting the best coach for your team.

Exactly, that’s why Frank Wilson is your man.

I really hate our fan base

Nothing like a coaching search to reveal the soft headed retards in a fanbase.
Good God man, pull it together.

I can’t believe nothing has broken either way with LK

He will be fine but not great. Lots of 6-7 win seasons in our future. He was borderline on the hot seat not long ago.

He’s no Dan Mullen.

Arkansas is just an upscale Iowa State. Like choosing Chiles over Applebees. Fits his personality. Only SEC school I could see him at. Great hire if they get him.

Drum roll? Announcement soon?

Saban, to be announced soon after Kiffin decision to steal his thunder. Saban still hasn't forgotten about the 2017 national championship game debacle.
My man Brian Kelly know who to call

Mullen isn’t Nutt. Campbell isn’t morris. That was my point. Campbell is more like a poor man’s Bert

Funny you should say that, Matt Campbell’s Toledo Rockets defeated Brett Bielema’s 18th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks on September 12, 2015 in Little Rock.

Maybe Bert is a poor man’s Matt Campbell.

Our administration hasn’t shown the ability to see potential in hires, why start now. They need to go with an experienced known candidate

Sounds like a leadership problem at the top positions. How about cleaning house of the “We’re just poor ole Arkansas, this is best we can hope for.” mindset and actually try to do something with resources that we have to make a positive change. Texas Tech’s athletic department seems to find
themselves doing well as is Ole Miss. What is stopping Arkansas besides “Woe is me “attitude?

Mullen is HDN, Campbell is Chad Morris

Chad Morris’ incompetence is on a level all by itself. No one can compare to him.

Campbell actually beat a power 5 team even when he was @ Toledo back in 2015. You might remember it.

Florida no, Miss State yes. Not particularly close, especially in 2009. Campbell's schedule is much easier than what Arkansas or Miss State has to face year to year

quote:

My understanding is he butted heads with big-wigs there or likely would've been given more time. He had one bad year there and pretty good results outside of that.

Mullen has a reputation as lazy recruiter and an arrogant arse. Arkansas has never had more talent but made their name on being better conditioned, disciplined, playing smarter and harder than more talented teams. Mullen doesn’t seem like the answer to those needs. To me he’s another retread looking for a nice payday from the gullible Arkansas athletic department and boosters.

quote:

I'm not saying he's perfect. I'm saying he's miles better than Campbell, and the G5 guys are shots in the dark at best.

Disagree, rather take a chance on Campbell or top tier G5 guys than a retread that goes for Petrino as well.

Mississippi State did not have more resources. They were below us in the pecking order before Mullen got there.

What happened at Florida then? What obstacles were in place for Mullen that led to his dismissal?

He gets less resources than the top G5 teams and still wins in P4 conference.

Exactly, Campbell is the epitome of doing more with less while Mullen aka Nutt 2.0 does less with more resources.
Mullen was so good teams were beating down his door for three years to get him to coach their programs instead of broadcasting much like Nutt after Ole
Miss
quote:

Easy to say that. Imagine if Sam had turned around and got in a fan's face for saying he's on the hot seat. He'd be universally hated immediately

Arkansas administration pays coaches very well to run the football program and win football games. This is NOT a popularity contest. Win football games and the rest will take of itself . Don’t win enough games be fired and hire another coach. That’s how it’s always been. I

I’m literally astounded that you post by far the best resume of any coach we could hope to have a slim chance at hiring, and you think it’s some sort of point against him

Hey, I get it coaching searches are scary. Let’s go with something safe and familiar to make us feel all warm and fuzzy.

Meanwhile, other historical bottom tier teams are taking chances on coaches with potentially higher upsides. Indiana, Texas Tech, Vandy, and Ole Miss (spit) have shown what the right coach and administrators aligned can accomplish. I would rather take a chance on a Campbell, Eric Morris, or Alex Golesh than prodding along with some retread that has proven in the SEC that he does have what it takes to succeed at the highest levels.
